inconsistent cricut cutting

Hey Everyone,

I got my cricut for Christmas last year, but it is a used one. Last Spring I bought a craft blade but it doesn't seem to work well at all. My regular blade works better than the craft blade. But recently, I can't even cut through normal card stock. My blade depth is set to 6, I moved the pressure up to 5, and I still have to cut it twice to get a decent cut. Am I doing something wrong? I haven't always had this problem and am wondering if my machine needs replaced or serviced? Any ideas.

Maybe you just need a new blade, they do get dull.

Two things to check:
1. Is the blade housing loaded correctly? If it is not in the correct position it won't cut.
2. when the blade is cutting, does the housing move up and down? It should lift up slightly between cuts.
I had one that never actually lowered the blade so it scratched the top of the paper but didn't actually cut it. When I called PC they said I could send it in and they would fix it for $50 (assuming you are out of warranty, if you got it for Christmas you might still have time left!)
IF the blade is actually touching the paper than maybe you do just need a new blade.
