We have a lot in common, especially in terms of our views about the traditional cupcake wedding dress. I love this idea, and might have to do the same someday. I have to say that the description you typed above, before you quoted your actual journaling, would have also made for great journaling. One thing, though, I'm not so sure about the red inking. It's a little too harsh for such a fond memory. A softer blue, maybe... or gold...
I never really dreamed of getting married &/or actually wearing a “real” wedding dress, but when I got engaged, I finally entertained the idea (though I never wanted the traditional big white dress). I ended up w/ lots of pics from mags & online that were too pretty to throw out, but taking up far too much space in my file drawer so I made this LO (scan cuts off left edge) using the cardstock from page protectors. I had to put the designers if I had or remembered their names, just cuz I wanted that info for the future.
Journaling - "Ahh the dress... I do love pretty dresses! I was never the type of girl who 'always dreamed about her wedding day' but I did once have a vague fleeting image of being in a long flowy flowered red dress barefoot on a hillside in upstate NY, w/ all the bridesmaids in dresses all in a fabric agreed upon by them but custom-made in whatever style they chose. (Mind you, this brief, solitary image of my fictitious wedding was years before Greg!) Turns out, we weren't going to have a bridal party & were going to the Caribbean for our wedding, which was ABSOLUTELY fine w/ me! I looked at fun outfits like Hawaiian dresses, sarongs, beautiful party dresses… I wasn't even entertaining the idea of a 'real' wedding dress - I just wanted something new & nicer - until my mom floated the idea by me, said she'd help pay for it. (I never took my parents up on the offer to help pay for my dress because they contributed to wedding expenses & they had their only travel costs - it's all good!).
Excitedly I started looking at actual wedding dresses & realized most of them were what I called 'cupcake dresses' - big monstrous white traditional creations that were so not me. I started to focus my search towards less formal, less large 'resort/destination wedding' dresses, then started to find more stuff that appealed to my untraditional tastes & love of color, many of them 'bridesmaid' gowns that appealed to me far more than a lot of the bridal stuff. Looking at dresses, like most of the wedding planning, became a happy, addictive fascination!"
