Hi Sharon! How are you?? Very nice layout! Love the texture and dimension in your title (don't you just love magic mesh?). I enjoy reading your journaling (thanks for sharing). Only one suggestion... I would have pulled my circles (dots) together just a bit more and instead of free-floating I would have had them all anchored to another circle (like bottom/right below your picture there). Colors work well together... fun layout!!
SHCG: I really like this LO. The red PP really makes this page pop. I really love the "bubbles" maybe you could add a small white spot (to imitate light hitting it) off of one or 2 of the blue ones? I dont know. I really like it the way it is.
SHCG: Doing a layout about your resolutions is a great idea, now you'll be reminded the whole year through not just for the first week of January! Love all the circles and how the journaling is inside them, very bubbly.
SHCG: I like the idea of scrapping your resolutions; it'll be great to look back at this in the future. I see your collage skills coming into play, and now that I've glanced at the comments below, I see the champagne bubbles. I'm wondering how your pics would look with rings around each of them, either metal or paper, even with the corners sticking out. Also, I'd like to see white dots penned onto those black circle mats. I don't think your blue circles need inking because I think the texture of the paper already makes up for that.
SHCG: Sharon, you never cease to amaze me! I love this page so much! I adore the colors, the pictures, the circles, the handwritten resolutions, and of course, the inking! I am not sure if you doodled on the white circles or if they are from patterned paper, but they work perfectly here. I just peeked at Melissa's comment under mine and I can see what she is saying, however, symbolically, I see the resolutions as being firm in your flexible spirit. So, I like that they are so "straight", where all other components seem to be literally bubbling up. Fantastic job of combining challenges, you workhorse. Beautiful!
SHCG: Love this page. I agree with Wendy about the champagne bubble feel you have going here. Definately screams New Year! Which brings me to my one suggestion... The three circles with your resolutions form almost a perfect triangle and while I love things to line up I felt like they should have here. The three pictures don't line up with anything and neither do your little accent circles, so somehow the position of the resolutions seems slightly too structured. Especially if you are imagining random bubbles in a champagne glass.. But then again I am a wierdo so it's probably just me.
SHCG: The circles all over the page kind of remind me of bubbles in champagne...perfect for a new years resolution page. I love the blue with the orange and think perfectly clashed colors always add so much interest to a page. I do agree with Jessica's suggestion to add ink to the blue just to make it blend a little better. Love the design!!
SHCG: I too love the colors, the combo of red, white black & blue really pop off this page. I love how you inked the photos and most of all I love your journaling. We have similar resolutions!!!
SHCG: i really love the colors here. i wouldnt have never thought of light blue accents, but it really looks great. I think I would ink those though to fit a little better. Love those black and white circles as well. The rounded corner on the title mat makes everything flow. THe pictures are awesome, love that you inked them. I really dont see anything I would change.. it all flows very nicely.
This is my response to 2 Scrap Happenzz Critique Group Challenges - X3Jessicalouise/Jess' "Metal" & cmeinstlouis/Christy's "New Yr/Old Year" Challenges.
This LO is about my '08 New Yr's Resolutions while the photos are from highlights of '07. Special thanks to Marlene, whose recent Question of the Week inspired most of my journaling! Journaling reads:
"FOCUS on FITNESS! Getting more exercise & eating healthily...but in a zen, balanced, positive & HEALTHY way (not an obsessive, worrisome, negative way!).
Be WISE w/ my time! Keep my "quietly bad" habits in check (daydreaming too long/often, surfing online excessively to waste time, watching TV I don't really love).
Keep on SAVORING LIFE! 'Life is just what happens to you while you're busy making other plans' (John Lennon). These ARE the good ol' days! I don't wanna lose the present while remembering the past or striving for the future. I wanna GRASP the NOW!"
The photos are from a trip to Oregon, a trip to the Philippines & our big amazing family Christmas bash in NYC (loved having my entire family visit us from outta state!). My scanner cut off the some of the sides a bit (as it usually does).
