This machine is amazing!! It is very heavy, so I would suggest having a permanent spot for it. I love that any size die set works with this machine. Everything Sizzix is awesome!!!
You can not use all dies on this machine. I thought I would be able to use all my dies with this machines.

still working out the kinks, literally. But, love the fact I no longer need to cut down my 12 x 12 paper. I do wish I had a bigger magnetic platform to use with this machine, would make things even easier.

There are no extra large dies for this machine that I could find. Sizes like 8" and over. I could not find embossing folders either. I just received it and it's beautiful but useless if there are no dies extra large for it. It was very expensive and so was the shipping. If I don't find any products for this machine soon I guess I will have to return it and just stick to my Cricut for large cutting.

This is an industrial die cutter and great for card making. The opening is wider than on the Ellison Pro die cutter.
This die cutter is heavier, so you'd want to place where it will mostly live all the time.
I have purchased a total of 3 of these machines. 1 for myself and 1 for each of mu business colleagues. Each one of us have had a worst experience with the machine than the next. The machines will not pull the plates into the machine. My friends Roller has pulled in the plate and now has a die cut trapped in the machine and the roller just spins. For the cost of this machine and the price of the additional accessories one has to buy to use it, this machine should run like a pro.

what is the difference between a big shot pro and a big shot plus?

The difference really lies in the size of the machines. The Big Shot Pro machine measures approximately 24.25" x 15" x 7.6" and works with Sizzix dies or embossing folders that measure smaller than 12" x 14". It also features a 13" wide opening to cut or emboss many different materials.
Are the Mylar shims mentioned in the description the actual cutting plates (the two clear pieces that make the top and bottom of the "sandwich")? I would like to know if I need to purchase cutting pads, because those aren't listed as being included in the standard bundle.

I bought mine several years ago and honestly cannot remember. I “think” I bought them separately. Sorry I cannot be definitive.
this machine can cut with Bigz Sizzix dies chipboard?

I just received my big shot pro and haven't used it yet but the manual says that you can cut chipboard.

I don't think so either. However, I have seen them bundled differently occasionally. By that I mean the Periwinkle one came with additional stuff...thinlets or something. Of course the price was higher too. On a personal note....I hate all the grey stuff that is out there. Would it kill manufacturers to make things a pretty color? The periwinkle big shot sells out fast...which should be a clue.

The Big Shot Pro has a 3 year warranty. As with all machines the amount of use will impact how long it will last. All machines do wear out over time and extended use.

As far as I know the only puzzle die for the Big shot is one that makes a five-part puzzle. This would be more of a designelement for your page rather than puzzle per se.

There is a quilters bundle offered just not on this site. However if you were to put together a bundle on this site start here instead....
There is not a quilting bundle offered. Depending on the dies ordered, certain plates may be needed. This information should be listed in the die cut product description.

Yes, you can but you need additional pads/platforms to do so. You'll need a Solo Platform, Solo Shim and a Solo Thin-die Adaptor pad. I don't own a smaller Big Shot machine; I own a Cuttlebug. It's possible you have smaller versions of these pads/platforms. I found these 3 bundled for $49.14.
