This Magnetic Platform is perfect for keeping your dies securely in place giving you the flexibility to make exact cuts with your die and stamp sets (sold separately), or the ability to place multiple dies on one sheet for less product waste.
The Platform (also known as a cutting mat) is compatible with Sizzix's BIGKick, Big Shot, Big Shot Pro, and Vagabond machines (each sold separately). Please note that to die cut one layer of thin material using Framelits, Thinlits, and other chemically-etched and wafer-thin dies that the Magnetic Platform is required along with Cutting Pads. The Platform includes easy guidelines on how to make the perfect Sizzix sandwich.

In spite of obvious graphics on the platform, this user forgot to put the bottom clear plate in place before cutting. DON'T DO THAT!!! Expensive mistake on my part. Otherwise, it is a really great accessory to have. What might have helped me is if there were an orange or red "Caution" sticker with a warning to be sure to put the bottom plate in place before cutting. I hope my experience helps someone else avoid this user error!!
If you use wafer thin dies this platform allows for more precise cutting . You can lay your die anywhere on the card and it will stay put. Your big shot is not complete without this platform. Yes, you can stick to the bigger dies but you wont have the same flexibility and you will be greatly limiting yourself on your die choices.

I debated about ordering this when I ordered the new Big Shot, but since I use mainly the thin dies, it is a terrific tool. I haven't used the flippy page platform yet which will be awkward in the space I have.
This platform is totally awesome! No more taping your dies to the paper! The magnets are strong and hold your die in place while you cut. Amazing tool...

I don't know why I waited to long to order this platform. The first time I used it I realized I should have bought this when it first came out. Its so easy and nothing moves!!! Awesome purchase - glad I bought it.
I highly recommend anything Sizzix, they have high quality products. This platform will be great for running through metal dies like alphabets without having them move around.
This magnetic platform may seem a bit pricey considering the Big Shot comes with an original platform, but it's SO worth it. It makes cutting with more intricate dies much easier!

Can this magnetic platform be used with the Cuttlebug?

The platform is about 1/4 inch too wide, and won't go through the Cuttlebug.

It was just a tad too wide for my Cuttlebug. I found the We R Memory Keepers Magnetic Pad B works well with my Cuttlebug though.

Absolutely:) this Platform can be used with the Magic Mat. The Magic Mat will replace 'one' of the cutting pads included in your sandwich combination used for the particular Die set you are working with.

Button magnets. It’s annoying. I feel it’s a waste of money. And if I want to use my embossing folders, I need to switch back to the original platform to make them fit.
