What you can cut with your Sizzix Big Shot:
Instructions: To use the Stacey Park and Sizzix Big Shot machine with thin metal dies use the included Sizzix Multipurpose Platform or an accessory platform such as the Sizzix Magnetic Platform, as well as the included set of cutting pads. To create your die cutting “sandwich”, begin by placing the platform on the bottom. On top of the platform, place one cutting pad. Then place your paper right-side up on top of the cutting pad. Place the thin metal die on top of the paper, with the cutting edge down (in contact with the paper). Finish the die cut “sandwich” by placing the second cutting pad on top. Set the die and pad “sandwich” on the cutting path of the Big Shot machine, and turn the crank to move it through the machine.
To use the Sizzix Big Shot with a steel rule die, place the die between a pair of cutting pads with the paper face down over the part of the die design you would like to cut. If needed, use washi or masking tape to secure the paper in place to get the perfect placement of your paper. Set the die and pad “sandwich” on the cutting path of the Big Shot machine, and turn the crank to move it through the machine.
For easy reference on how to assemble “sandwiches” with the included cutting pads for other types of dies and Sizzix accessories, use the tabs on the MultiPurpose platform.
Safety Reminders:
TIP: The Sizzix Big Shot machine’s polycarbonate plastic cutting pads often make loud creaking, cracking, and snapping noises while being cranked through the machine which can sound alarming. Do not panic if your machine makes these noises while cutting! This is a normal part of machine operation and the cutting pads and machine are designed to withstand the pressures of cutting.
I didn't think it was possible to wear out a sturdy, manual workhorse like a Big Shot, but I managed it with my old/vintage machine. (Admittedly, I was pretty rough with it over the years.) But I immediately ordered myself a new one, and thanks to Scrapbook.com with their amazingly fast regular shipping, I barely missed a day in my craft room! Now I can dismantle my old machine at my leisure and see if I can refurbish it for an emergency back-up. I know there are electronic, hi-tech options now, but I love my old-school Big Shot.

I knew it would be good, I have an older big shot 15 years. you know when you have something that long it is well built. it will be kept as a back up

This is a beautiful machine and cuts/embosses as expected. I am so pleased to have it as my old one is 10years old and is getting tired.
I tried to extend the warranty another 2 years but could not manage to do so. So need help for that problem

Just received and retired my original from 2011. Although I have the BS plus and others, the Big Shot has always been my favorite. Love the color of this machine and excited that 6x6 pads are also available now (& in teal!).

Does this machine 'fold up' to take less room on my table when not in use?

The largest 3D emboss I have tried was 8x4 inch for die but paper size was 8-1/4 x 6 inch heavy paper. The results were terrific.
