What materials can you punch through?
Need some assistance with eyeballing the reach on your material? No problem! The Multi Punch has easy-to-read guidelines on the head of the tool so you can see how far in you're punching. You can go only 1/2" inch in, midway at 3/4" or all the way up to 1". You decide!

I love having one punch with several different sizes! The punch is very easy to use and very easy to switch between the different sizes. The only reason that I did not give it 5 stars was because the size where you put the paper (or other material) cannot be adjusted. The punch may handle thicker products but only if you can fit it in the slot. Other than that, it’s wonderful!!!
The only reason that I might no recommend this product is that I feel that it is a somewhat hard to punch. The tool is kind of heavy to hold with one hand.

This is a very heavy duty tool. And I mean heavy. It's not a lightweight regular hole puncher. It cuts through plastic, chipboard etc. As long as the item is flat, and no thicker than heavy chipboard it will cut through it. This punches like a Crop-a-dile that you might already have. However, this is handier if you wish to take it with you. It's also great if you want the various sizes combined into one tool, that will cut thicker materials than most normal punches. This will take the place of having several different size hole punchers. Also note, the punched out pieces are not contained (at least that I could find), so you will have pieces of paper floating around. I suggest holding over a craft mat or plate.
The downside: is that it is VERY difficult to see the little lines that try and give a guideline as to how far you are punching into the paper. Hence I deducted a star. I wish they had made the lines black or dark blue. I plan to add my own markings. The other issue, is that it would have been very easy for them to have added a little wing to each side to help you line it up on the paper for each depth. I won't use it if I need specific consistent depth. I will use it for the various different size holes it can punch and that is the main function of this punch.
Love having so many hole sizes to choose from, but most of all love that this is so easy to use. I was expecting to have to squeeze hard to punch but this closes like a dream, no stress on the wrist or hand.
So convenient to have five different sized hole punches in one tool. The design allows you to see exactly where you are punching.
So easy to use and great to have hole size options in one tool.

Is this a stand alone punch so you can punch anywhere on the paper (like in the middle) or is it constrained by the devise's back to punch only along an edge (like the regular Crop a Dile)?

You can only punch so far into your project because there is a back piece that constrains how far you can punch.

Is this as powerful as a regular crop-a-dile, as in, can it cut through leather, etc.? Also, can you adjust the depth of where the hole will be punched so you can punch several holes evenly?

This can cut through, paper, cardstock, chipboard, and leather. It does not have the ability to adjust the depth of the hole, however.

I haven't tried leather, but I did try this through a piece of heavy plastic that was glued to lightweight cardboard. No problem punching at all. You can somewhat manually adjust the depth. There are very SMALL lines that are hard to view, that help you line up 1/2, 3/4, or 1 inch depth. It is difficult to be consistent on the depth. One note too, is that I found with the different holes, you get a different depth in the paper. An example is the smallest hole at the one inch depth is consistent, but the largest hole is not quite one inch. Very hard to explain.
