Answer: You can only use a toner base printer with the MINC machine.

I received my Minc today and loved how easy it is to operate. I did read the instruction manual but didn't really have to. Easy as 1-2-3. This machine will be getting a lot of usage. I also tested a print from the lazer printer and it works like a charm. I completely agree with Heidi, ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES

WOW!! I don't even know where to start? I just got my MINC Starter Kit for Christmas this year and oh my! I am looking for more things I can foil. This machine is awesome!! I am a candle maker and I really wish I would have gotten this machine when it first came out. It adds such an elegant touch to my candles. I wasn't sure if it would work for dressing up a candle? However, when I applied the foiled print to my candle it turned out beautiful and it wasn't very difficult to do. I would highly recommend Heidi Swapp's MINC Starter Kit to EVERYONE that crafts. Even folks that don't. I would have given this product 10 stars if it were an option!

I love this foil applicator. It is so easy to use and the results are fantastic. I use it with toner sheets. I foil the toner sheets and then cut the shape with my Sizzix Big Shot Plus. These work so well together.
I would highly recommend this.
I had the mini Minc and wanted the larger one to laminate. I was not disappointed. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I love to print and foil all my inside sentiments so I'm very pleased with this machine and recommend it to anyone who wants to foil.
Cannot wait to try this new machine. Will be opening it this weekend!

What ever you foil must be on a piece of paper that has been run through a laserjet printer?? So if you cut something out of crd stock, this means you cannot foil it. Is that right??

I went to staples and took a piece of black card stock and had them print them on white card stock for 11 cents each

Yes! You can use your MINC machine to laminate a document, a flyer, business presentation...etc. You also can make a cover for a mini album using cardstock and even add glitter, embossing powder and sequins inside the laminating sheets before sending it into the MINC to laminate. Here's a couple great videos Jennifer McGuire shows how you can embellish with laminating with your MINC machine. Hope this will help! :)))

Since the minc gets pretty warm, should I have something under it? What type of surface should it be on?

Hello. The MINC gets warm inside, but should not harm any work surface in contact with the exterior. To protect any delicate surfaces from crafting activities in general it is advisable to use a silicone workspace mat.

What is thickest paper that you can use? I�ve seen below in the q&a one answer was 65-80lb cardstock and another answer that said chipboard, (I saw on Google that chipboard is 30pt/624gsm) which one is correct?

Hello. The opening on the full-sized MINC is only 3mm thick, so that will limit the size of the material that can be used in addition to the other necessary materials for foiling or laminating. 30 pt chipboard is .76mm thick, so it should work. For best results always consult the user manual for proper heat setting.
