First time I've ever been late. So, I kept it prettttttyyyyy simple. Thanks for looking and thanks for the challenge, Shelby. :D
Journaling:
It was simply by chance that we discovered the Boohbahs on PBS. I was flipping through the channels when Trent saw the brightly colored blobs flying around. He wanted me to stop flipping and go back as he thought they were Teletubbies. It didn’t take long to discover these weren’t Tubbies. These were much different. Their round heads moved up and down, they danced and bounced and made quite odd noises, some of them sounding like flatulence (yes, that’s a big word. It means “fart”.) Still, both you and Trent were absolutely enthralled with them. We tried to make a point to watch them every day.It was around October I guess when we first saw the Dancing Boohbahs on the shelves at Walmart. Trent squeezed it’s hand and it began dancing and playing music. You immediately smiled and danced. It was at that point that I decided you must have your own dancing, odd noise making, yellow Boohbah. To see a smile like that on your face was priceless. Well, almost priceless. $30.00?!?! I had to walk away. I couldn’t justify spending that much money on a baby toy, even if it was one of the very few things that made you smile. So, I began the “Boohbah Campaign”. Both grandmothers were told how much you love the Boohbah. On shopping trips with a Grandma, Boohbahs were hunted down in every toy department of every store we went to. I wanted to demonstrate to the Grandma’s your love and adoration of the Boohbah. “Why don’t you just get the one that makes noises? It’s half the price.” Both of them asked me this question. Neither had to spend the day listening to your constant crying. Neither knew the relief to see you dance and smile at a silly toy. I would reply, “Those cheaper ones don’t dance and play music. It’s those she likes.” “Well, those are just too expensive. $30.00 for a toy…maybe for Christmas”. This was always their response on each and every trip to the store. “Ok” I would sigh, as we walked away from the four shelves of music making and dancing Boohbahs. It was always Trent’s thing to squeeze the hand of every Boohbah he could reach. It wasn’t unusual to have 10 or more Boohbahs going at the same time. Yes, we would get some looks from other customers, but hey, you loved it. The more the merrier. One day, we were shopping at Costco. We were checking out the toys when I saw they had the dancing and singing Boohbahs. They weren’t $30.00, they were $12.00! I almost bought you two. We wrapped it up and gave it to you for your birthday just a few days later. I don’t think there are words to describe how much you love your Boohbah. You stop and dance every time it makes a noise. Even Trent loves to dance to it. They aren’t on TV anymore, but that’s ok. We have a real live one right here in our house.
Well, I could tell you I was inspired by the lines in my art piece, but that doesn't do any good as I can't seem to find it. Hmmm….I'll keep looking and when I find it, I'll you know.
