Indonesia remembers 21 April as the birthday of Raden Ajeng kartini (1879-1904) former leader of the country's woman's rights emancipation in education. During the sort span of her life, she wrote to her friends in Holland on the betterment of her fellow woman folk's education. These letters of a Javanese princess were compiled into a book entitled " Habis gelap terbitlah terang" (Through darkness into light) and her song was written in her memory.
On this day, woman's groups and schools organize special activities such as seminars and national dress competitions. Kids and teenagers can be seen flaunting traditional costumes from all over Indonesia to symbolize their unity.
Here, my eldest son Rayner wearing Betawi (West Java) traditional costume. All his class wearing this costumes, singing performance and win at 3rd place.
