ph of coffee staining

Nov '06 Laffytaffy

I've coffee stained some acid free paper for scrapbooking. I've read that coffee is acidic, but when I tested my stained paper with my ph testing pen, it showed up ok. Does anyone know if this will be safe to use in scrapbooking, or should I use that archival mist stuff?

I can't answer your question, but I was just debating making a pot of , but don't really need a whole pot for myself. Now you've offered me hope! I can use the leftovers to "antique" ALL off my sb paper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL..... sorry no idea, but that's a great idea! I think when all else fails and U are unsure spray it anyways, it's not worth "the Test" on your precious memories!

And beware, this site is addicting!!!! It won't be long and you'll be playing on here early in the morning when you're still asleep, late in the evening when you should be going to sleep, and any time in between that you can spare six hours!

I think it will be safe because most cardstock will buffer products that have a little acid...I say go for it!

Oh how true that is! In fact, I should be in bed now! LOL!

I would think if the paper tested ok- then it should be ok- but I personally would spray it just to make sure. (I'm going to send you a pm)

O.K......so they tell you that if you are using non acid-free paper or memorabilia, you should not put your picture directly touching that paper. All that it would take is to keep this in mind and when you are using something like that, just use an acid-free mat between your picture and the acidic paper.

That being said, I no longer worry so much about this issue. For the most part, I would think that by now, pretty much everything sold for scrapbooking is acid-free.

Hope this makes sense since I am sort of bleary-eyed this evening.

Thanks for everyone's responses. Since I plan to use copies of pics and to also mat them anyways, I think I won't worry about it. Thanks again everyone
