I was wondering about eyelets. I have never used them and wanted to try them. I understand that you need a special tool to attached them. I looked at the store here at scrapbook.com and there were all different shapes and sizes of eyelets My question is do you need a different tool for each type and size or does one tool work on all? Also, where do you put them on your pages? Do you use them a...
Depending on the size of the hole in the eyelet, you will need something to make this hole. The anywhere hole punch comes in three different sizes 1/16", 1/8" and 3/16", and that is the size of the eyelet as well. So, you take the hole punch and make a hole in the paper where you want to put the eyelet by holding the punch straight on the paper, and tapping with a hammer. This doesn't take too much force, and should be done with a self healing cutting mat (I like Olfa, green mat quilters use for rotary cutting, or a piece of acrylic) Then I turn the paper over, and guide the hole down over and onto the eyelet that is also face down on the table (the finished looking side that will show from the front) Then you take the setting tool that has a broad cone shaped end, and align with the center of the eyelet. I tap with the hammer a couple of times, and then remove the setting tool and give the back one or two good whacks to get it flush with the back of the paper. Eyelet set! The reason I do this backwards is that I found that when I was trying to align the eyelet and get it through the hole and then flip the paper I was creasing, and with the lightweight vellums, it was making creases that I couldn't cover up. My method seems to prevent this from happening for me. I hope this helps. Nancy
