Alternatives to ink on stamps?

I have a bunch of stamps (traditional rubber, clear, foam, etc) and wanted to try something other than ink on them. The ink is fine but always seems a little faded or flat looking. I wanted to do something a little more interesting. Can I use acrylic paint on my stamps? Other kinds of paint. I was looking at paints the other day and they seem so cheap compared to ink pads. Could they work? Any examples?

yes you can use paint with your stamps. It doesn't give as crisp an image, and works best with stamps that are not very detailed.

I use acrylic paint on my foam stamps all of the time. I've never tried paint on my rubber or clear stamps thought. Let me know how that works out.

what about embossing? That will give you an image that isn't flat or faded!

try crystal lacquer too! It's awesome goes on over your stamped images. I've even used it on photos of the kids in the tub, playing with the hose, blowing bubbles, and drooling all over the place. Love that stuff!!!!!

i've used acrylic paint on my clear and rubber stamps.. just go lightly

with the paint on the stamps those foam brushes work really good for getting that light evenish coat of paint on the stamp

I love to use paint with my flourish clear stamps... just apply it VERY thin and be careful not to rock. It's not suitable for the detailed stamps, though, unless you're going for a messy look.

What's this crystal lacquer I hear of? Sounds kind of cool. I might have to look into that.

I would try embossing. Its really simple and has a great effect.
