12 x 12 mailers

I know this has probably been asked before but I'm asking it now because I couldn't find an answer. How do I mail 12x12 papers? Cheapest way (free is even better other than postage) possible would be great! I know people talk about putting them in pizza boxes and stuff like that but I don't have any unused pizza boxes. I'd like to do a RAK to get rid of some of my unused 12x12 for someone who will actually use it (too much stuff in my room) rather than have it sitting in my paper bin.

I save the boxes I get from my monthly club and the packaging from orders from the superstore. We mail pages to my father in law a couple times per year, so we just recycle the boxes papers came in. If you don't have an order coming in soon, maybe a LSS would have an appropriate sized box from one of their own shipments?

i have used gigantic envies that fit them in and i use cardboard that i slide in with them so they don't get bent.

you can always use the one flatter priority box as well, they fit in it diagonal and you can just put bubble wrap on either side.

I just bought a package of 14.5 x 19 (or so)bubble wrap envies at the office supply store($14.99 for 8 pack)and placed my items in there (I would definitely add the cardboard so they don't get bent/folded in the mailboxes)and the cost to ship was a reasonable $2.36. HTH

If you get the boxes from the PO that are flat rate or the priority ones and leave them flat you can tape the edges and mail paper that way. You can cover the box with paper to send it cheaper like parcel post if you don't cover them then you have to pay priority prices. The flat rate boxes aren't hardly 12 inches wide if you form them like you're supposed to but the priority ones are.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm going to stop off at my LSS today and see if they have any boxes I can take off their hands. If not then it sounds like the post office is where I need to go. As a last resort I'll go to the office supply store and get the large mailers. I'll def. put cardboard in to make it stiffer so the papers don't get bent.

The priority boxes are free you just pay the shipping. I wouldn't use the flat rate one if you are not mailing anything heavy- it will come out cheaper to use the regular priority one and pay the shipping by weight.

And you didn't hear it from me, but....you can take it home and turn it inside out and pay regular (non-priority rate, so it is cheaper) shipping while using the free priority box. But you really should NOT do that...

    hmmm.... thanks for the suggestion

I am just mailing straight paper, no embellies, no nothing- just paper from the dreaded slab that I'll never use but bought when I started scrapping.

Yep, you shouldn't because if they see it's turned inside out they'll charge you the priority rate. My BFF is a postal carrier and I hate to see people abuse the fact that the boxes are free.

    Stepping off my soapbox.

I'm just glad I know where I can get boxes- I don't really have time to turn them inside out (but it helps to know).

If you go to the LSS, ask if they have any 12x12 page prot. boxes. C-line has nice 12x12 boxes that their page prot's come in and if they sell their pp's singly, they may have some laying around.

tiffany, if you go to the usps website, you can get all their postal boxes, tape, etc for free and they will even deliver it to your house BUT you have to order ten boxes at a time. just a little fyi if you do go the priority route.

The Priority Rate is about $5 so not exactly cheap. There is a Priority Box that fits sb pp perfectly. You usually have to order them from USPS website (its free).. The box I'm talking about is Priority Mailer O-1095. They measure: "12.5" x "15.5" x "3" . And they aren't flat rate and the minimum order is 1. So you don't have to order a ton at a time.

Close To My Heart used to have 12x12 envelopes. You might check their website. I'd put a piece of carboard in the envelope if you use that.

I have never actually turned a box inside out before myself but I have heard of people doing it, especially with used boxes which I think is much better than throwing them away. I have used priority mail A LOT though, I've just always done the flat rate b/c I always stuff my envelopes/boxes full so this is the better deal.

The post office has free mailers that will fit 12x12 pps. I would add cardboard in it though.
