Ideas for a 21st birthday party?

Hello everyone! My 21st birthday is next weekend, my husband and I both have the weekend off but I don't have anything planned. My best friend just had her baby by c-section so she won't be up to coming, any ideas? we live at the beach....but we won't have mounds of money to spend like going out to a bar/club would cost. any ideas are welcome, maybe ya'll know of more fun cheap stuff to do than me!

WOW to be 21 again LOL. Ok I like being 42 and the thought of being 21 scares me.
We lived in Hawaii when I was little and had no money. My dad used to take us to the beach to fly kites. Of course he had to add a twist to it and we flew them from fishing poles hahahahah.

Hey, that's a great idea. DH and I are taking our little ones to the beach soon. Flying kites from fishing poles sounds like loads of fun!

As for the birthday celebration, I guess I'm an old romantic...candlelight dinner (grilled out or take out) on a blanket under the stars with your DH. We used to do that before children...now it's usually happy meals served by a clown on a playground. Still romantic but with a lot more noise!

Okay, I'll be the corrupting influence of the group since I'm 24 and still have friends who are turning 21. First off, since you don't have a lot of money, don't go to bars with a cover, but I would suggest going to a bar since, well, that's the good thing about being 21...you can. Check out the paper and the internet as well as any college papers near your home. Alot of places give away free t-shirts if you go there on your 21st birthday. ie:I turned 21 at __________(fill in the bar) It's a great souvenir to have. Second, tell the bartender it's your birthday and this is the first bar you've been in(even if it's not). That's good for at least 1 free drink. Secondly, have your husband make a scene and toast your 21st birthday to the entire bar periodically. People are naturally generous, especially when drunk. That should keep you in liquer for the rest of the night. If not, head out to the next non-cover bar. Also, if you're not too embaressed buy some cheap wide white ribbon and some puffy paint and make yourself a Miss America style-type sash that says something to the sort "Just turned 21" or something. Again, just to bring attention to yourself and let everyone know it's your first night out drinking and therefore appropriate to buy you drinks. I did this for a bachlorette party(put bridesmaid and bride to be) and none of us bought a single drink. Plus some Irish guy gave us $50 for Emily's dowry when he found out she didn't have one. You should have seen the toast I made at the rehearsal dinner when I told the groom he wasn't just getting a great girl, but also a $50 dowry.

First of all CONGRATS!!! I agree with the suggestion above. I did something similar and we had a great time.

Oh, I almost forgot. Bring a black marker with you and put a big mark for each drink you have. At the end of the night, make sure you get a picture of you with your arm showing how many drinks you've had.
