HELP! Pics, Albums, Scrapbooks, too many?!

Ok I need to ask everyone. How are you storing your pictures? I have so many! I have tons of regular albums and I need several more for hundreds of pictures that are in a temp album which needs replaced. Anyways my questions are:

*do you use both regular albums and scrapbooks? If so how do you store all the albums?! Do you feel overwhelmed with a library?LOL

*Is your goal to have all scrapbooks and ditch the ol fashion albums, or have both?

*If you use regular albums what kind do you use? I hate spending 10-20 bucks for one album that only holds 200-300 pics.

What to do? What do you do?

I would love to have just scrapbooks, but I have to many photos as well. Like 15 rolls from a trip to Europe in 2000 and then another one in 2001. I use both a scrapbook to document most of the pictures-well at least my favorites, and then use a photo album for the rest. I often wait till places like Kohl's or Michael's or Joann's have a sale and then pick up one or two regular non-scrapbook albums for extra photos!

I have all mine is scrapbooks.

FYI - Keeping photos in those magnetic albums can wreck your pics if you keep them in long term. I had some in for a few years and it was a little tricky getting them out!

Before I got my digital camera I always got doubles of my rolls of film and put one set into a slip in photo album and used the other set for scrapbooking ... that way if I cut a photo up then changed my mind I had a backup. Since going digital two years ago I only print the ones I want for photo frames or scrapbooking ... I miss the prints though ...

I keep my photos in a Cropper Hopper storage photo holders. After I scrapook the pictures I want, the rest go into archival safe photo albums.

I have a few older albums, that eventually I will scrap since I can see some pages are yellowing (not the pictures though). I recently acquired pictures that some were over 50 years old, well preserved in the older "jackets" they used to come in. What I'm in the process of doing is sorting them out into different family members, some are being filed into these photo boxes that hold 4 X 6 photos or smaller with separaters that you can log info on, in my case "pre-1955" (before I was born or before my Mom & Dad were together). "Grandma", who up until I just received these pics, I didn't have any of her.
I will end up with quite a few of these boxes since I have about 3 so far and that was just sorting the ones I just got. When I get to the albums, they'll be sorted through as well picking out the ones to scrap. Some will stay in the good albums & some will be put away in similar boxes or newer albums. I don't think I'll live long enough to scrap all the pictures.

I personally put everything in a scrapbook. ALl extras go in to my CM Power Sort Box. It holds up to 2400 pics and it is safe for long term storage. You can even get extra index cards ( made out of the same matrerial the box is made of) to lable different groups of pictures.
This item is alo great just for sorting your pojects if you are opverwhelmed with the amount of pics you have and you don't know where to start.

I scrap nearly all my photos. Duplicates and those not used are kept in photo boxes. I have 10 boxes for the past 15 years of marriage. I use both digital and film.

Thanks everyone I still have no idea what to do. Invest in more albums? Probably need like 3 or 4. Thats at least 50 bucks, but more like 60 or so. I fill albums up in no time, especially with a new baby! What kind of regular albums do you all use? I do not use the magnetic ones. I usually get the 4 x 6 sleeved ones, that are made with the stronger plastic. But wondering if I should just get the 5 dollar cheapos. I am interested in those photo boxes you all are talking about. The ones that can be labeled and good for long term storage. Where can I get them? About how much do they run? Thanks again!

I have my older photos (the ones pre-scrapping) in photo boxes sorted by event and will maybe eventually get to scrapping my favorites out of that, but I don't know. I also have now started using mostly my digital for my scrapping because it's easier to fire up the digi. And I only print the photo's I want to scrap then I will burn the rest to CD so that I will always have them if I ever lose my computer.

If you like on particular product line AND you want to keep you photos safe then just keep scrapping and show off your work. Photo Boxes are great way to keep your photos organized and store photos that are not being scrapped.

I scrap all my pics, but do have a some regular photo albums (not the magnetic kind, just the slip in kind) from some past events I didn't scrap.

Here's an idea...(someone must do this who would be more useful on it)
you could scrap some things...maybe an xmas album, or school album, etc. and then keep most of your other stuff (since you said you have so much) in just those slip in albums.

I think i actually would use MORE of those albums though, because i can more pics on a 12x12 lo than in those.

I want to share AND preserve longterm. Right now I bascially have every picture in regular old slip in albums (except some doubles which are scattered everywhere). I do not have doubles of every picture, so many that I scrap will be originals. I have had scrapbooking stuff for a few years but I have yet to start a album for home! I am currently still working on a gift album of my daughter. But honestly I am getting no where. I have little time, obssessive compulsive disorder and none of the pages ever come out the way I want them to and I end up starting over...lol

I just wanted to know what everyone else does with their pics while they are waiting to scrap. Or if I never get to scrapping certain eras, should I just use slip in albums. If so what are the best ones with a decent price as I will need LOTS!

I like to tell myself that I will eventually scrap all of my pics, but, I dont think that will ever happen. LOL!
I scrap what I can and then store the rest in a photo album.(at least that is the plan)

I doubt I could ever scrap all my pictures, even if I did a lo every day for the rest of my life!LOL Problem is I have way to many pictures. I am picture crazy. My mom handed me down all her pics and now I have a 8 1/2 mo baby and I tell you what, I am snapping away! Looking through my pictures I say to myself why do I have so many of the same thing! For this christmas eve I took at least 30 and for christmas morning probably around 20!LOL I have to take a picture for everything and nothing and I always take several, several shots and can never delete any! I am a picture addict....lol HELP ME!
