date stamping back of photos-help

I recently read an time saving technique-to use a date stamp to place dates on the reverse of photos. This seemed like a great idea so I bought a date stamp and tried it, but every ink I use seems to smear all over the glossy back of the photo-Any suggestions on what type of ink I can use that will dry quickly and not smear all over the reverse of the pict?

hmm..either the pigment or the dye inks? Hmm.

The pigment inks are really juicy and you'd have to let them sit and dry for like 24hrs. The dye inks dry faster, but I almost think that they would smear as well. The back of a photo is just a slippery surface.

I date my pics on the back with a journaling pen. I'll check back in as I'm interested to see what the smart ppl have to say!

You could print off or stamp mini & different size white labels to add to the back of your pics.

I sometimes print off labels and stick them to the back, if I am looking for neatness like when I share the photos. You could handwrite them with an American Crafts slick writer, as well. Or try stamping with staz on. It will stain your stamp (but won't effect how it works) and may take a bit to dry, but works on almost any surface.

Staz-on ink should work...

I use address labels on all my pics, which I've found works great for me. I was terrible at writing on them as I got tired of writing pic after pic.

Ritz/Wolf Camera stores carry special photo pens that don't smear and come in red, blue, green, white and not sure if they have black pens.
They really don't smear on the photos. They use these pens to write on demo photos in the store.
I bought them so I can doodle or write on my photos w/o having to use Stazon ink.

I know it's a little time consuming or can be but i also print off the date on mini (8167) mailing labels from avery to put on the back of every picture.

Are you truly sure they meant on the back of the photo itself, or did they mean on the back of the layout? I do that quite often.
