Brother or Dymo labelmaker?

Topic Closed
  • Rainbow8
Hi...i'm trying to pick a label maker and am not sure from the reviews which is best - should i go with an electronic one which prints the label or a cheaper embossing one and if so which type would you recommend? Thanks in advance for any helpful info. !
  • Nancy Keslin
I think it would depend on what you were going to be using it for.
  • Rainbow8
Oh, well mostly for labelling containers and such...

I have a DYMO and I love it! It is a electronic one, I have had it about a year and have had no problems with it, I got it from walmart and the refills are pretty cheap! I use it to label EVERYTHING and they have different refills for different things (paper, plastic, etc) LOVE IT!

I had the cheaper embossing style and all of the labels fell off of the plastic containers i was labeling.

I use to have the embossing kind to and it seemed like everything i put the label on it would curl up and fall off

Thankyou so much for the wonderful feedback !! It seems the embossing one would not be so efficient in the long run ! This is just the sort of help i was searching for...thank you to everyone !!
    Off to Walmart i go...

I love the embossing one for using it on my scrapbook pages, but wouldn't want to mess with using it for actully labeling things.

I have both types and use the electronic one much more.

Oh okay that's good to know! Thanks! From various reviews I have read, some ppl are frustrated with how long the battery lasts on the electronic ones and also the ink doesn't last very long as well. Does anyone have experience with these issues?
  • Kate The Great
I have never had to change my batteries I use it alot for school and scrapbooking household stuff, never had to replace the ink yet
  • Rainbow8
That's encouraging, thanks! I'm thinking i could probably use both, embossing for scrapping and elec. for other things. Staples has the Dymo Letra on sale now, might have to venture out in the cold...

I love my electronic one as well. I have the Dymo Letratag and it is awesome. I used to have the embossing hand type one, but the tages fell off of everything.

I've got both. The embossing one I use mostly with strips of white core paper, and sand a bit.
  • Rainbow8
Oh that's a good idea to use strips of paper with the embossing one! Another reason to have both! Thanks...

What size strips of paper do you use? I have an old embossing one, and this would be a good way to start using it again.

I have a Dymo printing style one, pd under $20 for it, it's perfect for labeling all my containers! Really easy to use.

I've heard great things about the Dymo's and it seems everyone else here loves them too! Just depends on how much your gonna use it and how much you wanna spend. Let us know which one you choose! Good Luck!
