Where to find blank embossing folders

Provo craft used to make blank embossing folders but I cannot find them anymore. Does anyone know where I can find them now?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but help me understand. Embossing folders have a raised pattern on them which transfers to paper when run thru the machines. Thus, the "embossing". What purpose would a blank embossing folder have? If it's blank, it won't leave any type of impression on paper, so the question remains, why would one bother?

thats the sheet you put in the blank folder

you can make your own with all kinds of things, even cereal boxes! Cut some #@$$ out of thick cardboard/stock with a your Cricut or whatever- then make a 'folder' and glue the 3D pieces in it- Then use it as an embossing folder.

put brass stencils in it too

1. blank embossing folder
2. blank embossing sheets

then you can make your own and btw, can you use a plastic stencil to make your own embossing stuff????

Hey Design guy;) Cricut offers only the embossing sheets but discontinued the folders. I am not sure why they did. Regardless, I have tried the cereal box/cardboard route and the impression is still not as great as you get from an embossing folder.

I guess I might have to try to create one myself

Hmmm - that's why Kory is a guru and I'm only a diva! With all the bazillion embossing folders out there, I can't imagine making my own! Can you spell L*A*Z*Y? Ow! My head hurts.

I truly love embossing folders, and have like a gazillion of them, but I also cannot imagine making my own! Just like I don't want to make my own embellishments or paper or anything else like that! I don't know if it's because I'm lazy or because there are so many great products already available I'd rather spend my time doing other creative stuff.

Darla...that's why you're artsy and I'm nit-picky or tedious or something :>) The things you do don't sound the least bit interesting to me, but I enjoy seeing them in your gallery, but I love to make my own embellishments, flowers or anything else that you wouldn't like to do lol Not that it keeps me from buying all those things also, but I use what I make and get to enjoy looking at the things I buy

I knew about making embossing folders, but haven't tried it yet. I also bought stencil material for the Cameo to make my own stencils, but haven't used it yet. Ditto the vinyl and the glass embossing stuff. OK...I'm a complete craft failure...except I buy things great!

I think there are too many Darla's on this forum. If I remember correctly, the first person to comment is also a Darla. I'm bowing out of this one!

Thanks for the enabling, everyone. I just bought a kit that includes the blank folder plus two packages of refill sheets from the well-known auction site :>) The kits have been discontinued in the sb sites that I checked.

I know it’s been years since anyone has posted to this thread but I thought I’d just for anyone still looking is, Amazon sells clear plastic placemats that look like they work just as well for making your own folders. I ordered some to see how it works. I’ll let you know! You get 4 for $12

Ummn, OK guys, try this:

1. grab an embossing folder (perhaps one you rarely use, if you're worried)
2. fold it over backwards and -- TADA! -- instant "blank" folder.

Yes it works, I used to do it all the time before I got super lazy. Cheap plastic place mats work well too, of course.

I received a blank embossing folder but I don't know what to do with it, any suggestions?

@kpahl You can use any flattish item (even a die - just be sure the non-cutting side is touching the paper) to emboss or deboss. I used to cut heavy cardstock shapes (with my Cricut) or, if you don't have an electric machine, use a die cutting machine and cut out several copies from cardstock and glue together to form a stack (I think I used to do anywhere from 3 to 5); use it to emboss/deboss. Try using coins for circles, enamel dots, etc.
