Want to use your stash?

I try to resist buying too many new scrappy things but some collections are just too cute! So, I keep shopping! But, I also try to use more of what I already have.

Ever since January 2013 I have put together a kit from my stash almost every month, and shared it with an e-mail list and on my blog to inspire fellow scrappers to put together stash kits in similar colors. I'm making both scrapbook layouts and cards from those kits.

Yesterday, we decided to open a Facebook group dedicated to stash kitting and scrapping, so I thought I'd post it here if anyone should want to join us for the challenges to use your stash.

It's fun making kits from your stash and it makes it easier to get the scrapping done, because you don't have to put together new things for every single page you make.

Any one here who have tried stash kitting before?

never tried it well maybey one time but after I made like 4 kits in plastic bags I found I used them all up quickly and did not want to go thru all that again but it is a cool idea!!! I would have to own more paper I guess- I only have 9 paper pads so not that much but I want to get more asap if I can afford it idk!!! keep me posted oh yeah, I joined your fb group just now!!!

I don't make kits but I do put together papers for pages and put them with the pages. Sometimes I put embellishments with the pages. I would like to see examples of what you have done though!

How cool! I requested to join your FB group. I recall occasionally seeing a counterfeit kit club blog hop over on 2peas some time ago. This looks fun! I've thought about kitting my own kits from my stash. I'll try to give this a try. Thanks so much!!

Yes, I've made kits to use while cropping. I'm great at making them, rubbish at using them. I ended up taking them all apart again. I think I was just putting the wrong stuff in my kits.

I like the idea of making a larger kit for the month. I almost always make up page kits for when I go cropping so that I have less to carry with me and have already thought out my pages. Makes crops MUCH more productive!! I also asked to join the group! Can't wait to look at all the examples and see if I can fine-tune my kits! Lord knows I have enough supplies to work from!!

I have, but I'm usually unsuccessful at keeping the kit small. The kit will end up with 20 or so patterned papers! I just like them all so much! It's still helpful though because I'm not rummaging through my *whole* stash.

I usually find a pre-existing kit or mood board for color inspiration, but again, I don't always stick to it.

I "should" do this but no I never will. I LOVE the idea, though and your blog is great!! I enjoyed going through it.

I know I probably should do this as it be more productive in the long run but I just can't make myself do it....I do love the idea though.

I always plan a year at a time (minus vacations, they get their own book). I put the year's pictures into groups and find matching paper and embellishments. I usually make 25-35 at a time. Then I find my titles or dies from my Cricut or Silhouette and scour the books or websites. I make sketches and then I start the actual scrapping. If I am scrapping away from home, I make a list of what I might need for each layout that isn't already in the kit. This makes it really easy to attend crops. My prep time is done in short time bursts (or long if it is summer). This works for me and I always feel like I have something to work on at my fingertips.
