Sand

I have a few friends getting married this summer and they are destination weddings. They are all in some place tropical so I would like to make a wedding card for them and add some sand to the card...but does anyone know a good way to glue sand to a card so it will stick? I havent really tried anything so Im looking for suggestions...if anyone has tried it before. I have glue sticks (which I doubt would be effective) but I also have different kinds of craft glue. Maybe I should just try one of those? Thanks!!

I've used plain old white Elmer's Glue with much sucess.

I think the thickness & consistency is key.

Depending on the area or your desired look (thick or flat), you can either squeeze it on (for a thicker, dimensional look) or thinly paint it on (for a thinner/cleaner/more consistent look).

To seal, you could try a clear coat spray seal.

Another option might be to use sandpaper strips.

I glue sand down the same way I glue glitter, usually with martha stewart glitter glue.

Thanks for the advice!! I hadnt even thought about sealing the sand onto the paper. Shoot! I was hoping this would be as easy as getting so sand from a local park and spreading some glue and throwing the sand on there...

I've seen people use the double stick red line tape before, but I agree with the sand paper idea! Sounds alot less messy and definitely alot easier!

I used fine sand paper on some pages I did with a church youth group. YOu can cut it with some OLD scissors to the size and shape you want and VOILA... instant beach.

I did a LO with sand not that long ago. I just used sand from our local beach and Martha Stewart Create Permanent Glue (bonds well). Anyway, it stuck and is still sticking.

The nice thing about using sandpaper and scissors you actually sharpen the blades every time you cut the sandpaper. I've done really nice cards and beach lo with sp. I have done footprints using a footprint punch and brown paper bag as paper and place the footprints on the sandpaper to look like someone walked across the beach.
