Home Made Glue Dots?

When I was inquiring about Aleen's Tack it Over and Over, someone mentioned making glue dots. Is there a trick to this, or do you just make little dots on waxed paper or something? Someone tell me. I spend gobs on those dang little snot-dots (as my DD calls them).

I have been making them for a couple of months and I use the leftover sheet from labels. A couple of tips I have are:
- if you want them flat let them dry for an hour or two then put your cover sheet on top and squish slightly (use a very light hand)
-don't let them sit for too long, I found that if they were older than months they became harder to peel off the sheet (the glue is starting to become permanant I think)
-when you place the sheet somewhere out of the way to dry, don't put it somewhere and forget about it. I just to put in on the top of the cabinet and then forget about them till I put my hand in them (both wet and dry). I put them out of the way but still in sight now.

This is too funny because I just bought some yesterday (first time buy them) and thought I can make these! Someone said you can use tacky glue and parchment paper to store them on. I have not tried it yet so....I can repost when I do!

I made them with The Best Glue Ever. At first I put them on teflon "paper" but then I just made them on the used ZOTS roll and just rolled them right back up.

I have an image of them on the white used roll but it's really hard to see them since they are clear. So here they are on the teflon "paper".

I love this technique! I use 2 used sticker sheets ( 6x12- shiny sides in- ) to make my dots on.

for the life of me I can't bring myself to make my own glue dots, lol,,,,I've tried to talk myself into it for months,,,,

300 glue dots cost 4.00 = like,,,,1.3 cents per glue dot???????

I just can NOT convince myself that my time is worth that,,,,,not to mention the PITA of trying to find space to dry them with my cats wandering all over the place,,,,,

More power to you girls who can and do do it,,,,

but for the life of me,,,,,,,I just grab a box at WM!

Anyone know if any tests were done on these homemade products to ensure that 5-10 years from now, your stuff isn't falling off your pages?

There was a video on you tube and she said she had been doing it for years. The one thing I find is I can do a small sheet with two sizes and its great for crops. Here in Canada they are about $7 a box or more depending on the brand.

LOL a friend of mine calls them snot dots! My blog readers were upset I had to remove the video, I said I'll remake it and call it "dots of glue" so they won't harass me!

I've called them snot dots since the first box I purchased. I have one of the roller thingys with snot dots in it...someday, when I empty it, I'm going to figure out how to carefully take it apart and reuse it
