I accidentally deleted all photos in our camera!

I was trying to clean some photos out of our digital camera by deleting 9 pics at a time and I accidentally deleted all of them! WAAHHH!!!! NO!!!!

Fortunately, there weren't any huge events in there - but there were some awesome candids DH took of me and worst of all, there were pics from a day I spent with one my best friends. She lives in another state, just moved back here from a farther state, and it was the first time in YEARS that we had seen each other! We spent a lovely day in a park, a museum and at our apartment. The photos were wonderful. I know, I can probably scrap that day sans photo but dang it, they were such beautiful photos!

SOOO bummed. But it could've been far worse, there could've been a lot more in our camera than there was. So I just need to move on, I guess. I know if there's anybody that'd understand my pain, it'd be other scrappers! At least I know what NEVER to do to our camera again.

I understand that "OH! What did I just do!" feeling. I did this with my son's 2nd birthday and I lost all the photos. Needless to say, I was very upset about it. That's the downside of digital. I'm afraid to download anything now, I let my DH do it! Someday, I'd better get over it.

Wow!! That's scary. I haven't done this one yet, but this is a good reminder for me to be careful with my digital card.

My hubby says you can go to your local computer store asap and they should be able to retrieve them. He works at a computer store and has seen it done. Doesn't make sense to me, but I believe him.

i'm not familiar with the software, but i know there's software that exists that can sometimes restore lost images on memory cards. a camera store i worked at did it and i believe it cost around $50 but think it's worthwhile if they can recover anything. hope this helps!!!

or i just googled it and there's a website photo-saver (just add the .com to the end). they claim that if you aren't able to recover your images you can get your money back.

as long as you don't reformat the card, you can get the pictures back. Any new pictures you take may over ride what's on there.

Due to some issue I lost all my pictures from our curise/honneymoon. Something went wrong and I couldn't get the pictures. DH is a computer guy, took him a bit, but I got all my pictures off the camrea card (without paying anyone since he was able to do it, but if he wasn't, he would have bought the software or taken it somewhere).

You can often recover the images ifthe card has not been reformatted and they have not been written over, but not always. Take it to a camera shop or computer store, they can pop it in and tell you if it is possible. A good one will tell you for free just to get your business.

Oh, we can all feel for you. That is so sad.

I've never done that myself (yet - knock on wood!) but then again, I haven't had my camera all that long. I really do feel for you. Please let us know if you were able to retrieve them.

I did that same thing to about 200 photos on my card. I took it took my local Wolf Camera and the guy the photos back (as well as others I had intentionally deleted--MONTHS ago!) for only ten bucks. I think most places do charge about 50. i think iot was the absolute panic in my voice that made him cut me a deal, lol. SO yah, take it to your local store (Wolf Camera if you have one!) and you can get them back!

Thanks for the support, everyone. I'll look into getting them back. There's a photo store right downstairs from my office. I don't know if I'd pay $50 for them, but I would be willing to pay something.

I knew you guys would understand. I feel all warm and fuzzy now (though I still wish I hadn't done that! Grrr...)

Oooh that is terrible! I did that once with my camera and now I just downlaod them all from my computer and do the editing on there.

I am so sorry! I think to many of us have been in this situation before. thankfully like you said there weren't that many pics.

Take it to a camera shop - I was at Shoppers who has a professional photogropher on duty and he told the guy to bring in his camera and memory card and he got the pics back!!!!

I had no idea those deleted pictures could be retrieved. I thought once you deleted them, that was it. That's good to know. Do you have to have special software to do such a thing?

You don't need to take it to a camera shop. There are free downloads available online that you can use to retrieve the photos yourself. Like the others said, as long as you haven't reformatted the memory card you should be able to get them back.

Thanks, judyQ, this restoration program worked like a charm and I GOT MY PICS BACK! OK, so DH handled it all so I couldn't tell others how to use this program - he loves learning about new computer stuff so he volunteered to do it all, and said the program was a bit tricky with all the zipping and unzipping. But I'm sure I could've figured it out if he hadn't insisted he wanted to do it (at least I hope I could've!).
