I'm going to ask this here and on another board... cricut difficulty

OK ladies. I've had my cricut for a few years now. BUT I've never been able to cut a true 12x12 paper.. Or a diecut that I want be as wide as 12 inches. On the mats they have alittle dotted line.. leaving it about 1/8 shorter than the true 12x12 size. If you have an image to cut... and it slightly bigger than that small dotted line, it cuts of the image you are trying to cut... right from that dotted line, Even though there is still about an 1/8 of an inch left till the edge of the mat on each side.

OK MY QUESTION!!! is there ... does anyone know, is it possible to set your margins alittle wider than that dotted line that appears on the cutting mats. I hate it when it cuts it off.. sometimes I just want it a tad bigger... for example.. i am trying to do a shadow of a shape.. and one edge is just over that dotted line on the mat... I can't move the shape over as its fulling within that dotted line. SO.. it cuts off the one edge of the image to a flat edge.
CAN THIS BE FIXED??? Please help if it can.. I've been looking and looking and can't seem to adjust the margins to do the full size of the mat. I'm hoping its just something simple that I missed.. Does ANYONE KNOW is this can be done??

You cannot cut a true 12x12 image. I blieve it's 11.5x11.5. However, I know with a G you can trick the machine and get a little larger cut.

Like Jackie said, it doesn't cut a true 12x12- but if you used a 12x24 mat you could at least get one side to be 12x- as for tricking the machine as Jackie said, I think I have heard this as well, but dont know how it's done.

Why the machine wasn't made just that little 1/4 of an inch bigger, is beyond me.
That way we could do the 12x12's!!

Thanks ladies.. I agree with you there.. I don't get why they just didn't make it cut the mat size.. when they were making it who on earth said... hey lets make it so it doesn't actually cut the size of the mat!!! lol Had to be a man making it! LOL

Sherry, no you can't mess with the margins, but like Chan's Gram said you can trick it by saying you are using a 12 x 24 mat. I've done it lots of times. It is especially helpful if you have a Gypsy, or the cricut software, but I've done it without those before.

I think the reason it doesn't cut a full 12 X12 is that the paper is 12 X 12 and the blade would leave the edge of the paper and when returning may push or lift the paper. When we demo'd the C cake we had to make sure we brought the blade into the frosting sheet or fondant about 1/4 inch. Make sense?

Cathy is right the paper will move and/or tear if you are to close to the edge. You can cut on a 12x12 paper but you can not cut 12x12.

Yeah...that's really the best you're going to get. I like to make 11.5x11.5 shapes and mat them on 12x12.
