Ever scrapped an Ex?

-Question does not apply to those of you who married your first and only love !!!

This may be a strange question to ask, but I was wondering if any of you have ever done a layout of one of your ex-boyfriends? Positive or negative.
I'm thinking it could be one with journaling as a process of moving on, or it could be a friendly portrait of one that you shared a period in your life with or anything like that.
My thoughts are that there is a few men in my past, that even though I have absolutely no feelings for them anymore, they are such huge contributors to me being the person I am today.
So far, when scrapbooking, I have been avoiding those photos, but I have been doing more personal layouts lately, and the subject keeps popping up, I feel like that lady in the movies that cuts the head of her ex-husband out of all the family pictures and it makes me feel like I'm not being completely honest about my past !?
Please, I would really like to hear your thoughts on this.....
Has anyone ever posted a layout that might have made you look less than perfect?

Good question. I dated a guy for almost 4 years before I started dating my now-dh. I have SO many pics from then. The only ones I've scrapped were some from when we were in high school...and then those were just a couple among the many other high school pics on the page. I don't think I'll scrap the rest of them...I kind of want to, because he also is a huge factor in making me the person I am today, but I think it would be "weird" to my dh and to my children in the future when they look at my books if I had pages dedicated to my ex. I'm interested in seeing what others say also.

Well, I married my first and only love... ten years afterwards, so I have quite a few exs in between there. My books are chronological. Even if I end up scrapping something out of sequence, I put it in the book during the appropriate time period. So for my DH or DD to see it, well, it was before their time period. It was a part of my life. I tend to scrap the good though, so I doubt I would be journaliing or scrapping anything bad! I'm just wondering what it will be like when my DD realizes I was married before her Daddy. There are no children or ties to that situation, so I often wonder how it will come up and why it would.

I made a scrapbook for my DS of all the pictures I had of him and his father (my ex sperm doner...sorry if that offends anyone but it's how I feel). I just couldn't stand having them around and running across them everytime I looked through pictures to scrap. I knew they would mean more to my son than they did to me so I made him a scrapbook of them and he loves it. It was either that or I was going to set them on fire and roast marshmallows. (Do I sound bitter?)

When I scrapped my high school scrapbook I included by ex-boyfriends. They were apart of my life so I don't see anything wrong with it.

Yes I've scrapped my ex. and I'm scrapping my boyfriend now, and i have no idea how that will be in the future. So I would say if you want to scrap it do it!!!

PS how is the weather in Denmark now? Got the spring?

What a great question! I've had the same thoughts. I had a serious BF in high school that I still have a special place for in my heart, even though we've both gone on and married & had kids. When I go back one of these years and sb my high school years I can see me doing prom pages with him, but I don't think I'll make pages dedicated just to him. That would be a little wierd for me.

I have. My high school sweetheart had a big impact on my life and I included a page about him and our relationship in my book of me.
Ex-Girlfriend

Before I did it, my dh actually said that he was wondering why I hadn't scrapped it before.

I do have pictures of my ex's.....my first was a 7 1/2 year realtionship, and although I am married for 23 years, I do feel that they are a part of who I am also, that is why I still have them. My dh was married prior to me and has pictures of his ex and it is ok with me....they had a daughter that I raised from age 4 until now (she is 29) and that is her history. Heck in dd's baby scrapbook I even did a layout of dh and his ex because that is afterall where dd started.

I have a lot of college and daily life pictures that include my ex husband, so yes, I plan on scrapping them. I'm doing albums chronologically (starting with rescuing my baby pics from my mom's old magnetic albums), and he was a part of my life for 8 years. If I left them out, I would essentially be leaving out 8 years of my life as well.

But I do have an exception to scrapping my ex. I am not scrapping my bridal shower and wedding photos. Instead, I bought two photo safe pocket albums at Target and put the pictures in there. They aren't something I want to throw out, but neither are they something that I really want to spend the time, money, and energy turning into works of art. We are still friends (my brother was best man when he got remarried, and I'm attached to someone wonderful myself), but the sentiment that was there at the wedding is just gone.

I'm married and have no pics of my exes. I did, but DH and I got in a HUGE fight over them and I tossed them all, plus some. Even if I did have some, I wouldnt scrap them. If I were single I probably would though. If your married, I'd think about what DH would say if he saw them. Some men might not be upset but some men would be. (like mine lol)

I have scrapped exboyfriends. I actually have an album dedicated to each. The 3 main long term relationships I had played a strong part of who I am today. I felt to exclude them would not be honest with myself and leave holes in my past. I have to admit though, one of the albums I did while he and I were still dating. I did go back through that album and altered a few of the journalings. Just toned them down so they weren't quite so sappy. lol I learned from that to not put such sentimental things in plain view.

I would scrap an Ex only if I had children with them. I cant see scrapping all of my ex boyfriends........that would be a scary album and not very refreshing to look at. I had a thing for bad boys when I was a teenager....got me into a lot of disputes with my family. I then met this guy when I was 16 and dated him until I was 18...he wasnt a bad boy, he was a rich boy.....that didnt work out on my end because I didnt like someone consumed with money and having the BESTTTTT of everything. I then married my husband when I was 19.......he is decent and my family couldnt believe that I brought him home and MARRIED him..... when I think about a bad boy now I have to drool over Jessie James or Kid Rock!

I went to grad with my ex but decided not to include those pics in my book. They didn't turn out very good anyway and I had lots of others so I trashed the ex pics.

I have a lot of pics of my ds and dd's father, whom I was married to for 5 years, and was wondering how to scrap them, I know I need to but just don't "like" him very much, he has nothing to do with them for 7 years now. Maybe someday will do them. I am now with my dh for 13 yrs. and they consider him their dad, so I scrap him a lot in my albums.

I have chosen to not include my ex-husband in any of my family albums. For those years, I have pictures of our daughters and myself, but not him. I have only recently started using pics of him in my DDs' albums. He's their father, he needs to be in their books - but I have no desire to include him in my own. I've just started a BOM, so at some point I'll decide how to address the situation. Kinda sad to spend 15 years with someone between dating and marriage, and not want to keep any memories, but that's how I feel right now.

Yup, they were part of my life too.

I had to laugh because that's what I call my ex, especially in relation to my youngest dd.

I've only seriously scrapped the pics beginning w/my oldest dd's book. I kept a few pics of them together, but most of them I gave to my dd to scrap for herself. I gave her a lot of my wedding pics, too (I didn't have many and they weren't pro pics) I just kept a few, mostly of me by myself and of my family. One day when I do my book of me I'll scrap them, but for now, I can barely stand to look at them, either.

As for ex-bf's, I really only had one serious bf before I was married, but I will include them in my bom, too. Any pics of causual dates I'll include because they were all high school memories. I liked to date in HS, and had fun w/it w/out taking any too seriously, so they are mostly good memories.

For years after I was married I locked up my pics of the serious bf because it was a sore subject for dh. But now it was so long ago, and it was an important relationship that really shaped the choices I made and my future, that I think it's important to remember that part of my life. I'm hoping that when I do my bom it will help my dd's as they get older and start to make decisions of their own, to understand how important the choices they make as a young adult can affect their entire future.
