attaching ribbon to tags ?

This is going to sound silly but what is the best way to tie ribbon to tags so that it stays flat? I like the look of staples but I have seen too many files at work with rust from the staples and paper clips. Tying the ribbon in a knot doesn't look right to me, is there another way?

Double the ribbon, poke the two ends together thru the hole punched in the tag, slip the two ends thru the looped middle of the ribbon and pull flat.

Thanks, that is what I normally do (tie a knot or loop it) and its still lumpy but I think its the ribbon I am currently using (too thick).

You can also use a hole punch, fold the ribbon in half and tuck both ends through the punched hole, keeping only the folded section behind your hold and glue it into place - less bulk, uses the same non-acid adhesive as the rest of your page.

You can use brads instead of staples. Not sure if they're more rust-proof though.

You could always do the 2-hole punch and thread the ribbon through horizontally. (I'll try to find a photo--that's not a good explanation )
