wrinkled ribbon

I am trying to add some ribbon to a LO. But, it came wrapped around cardboard, and the ribbon shows the wrinkle marks. Can you iron ribbon without hurting it? What do you gals do when your ribbon is wrinkled?

I've ironed ribbon without a problem. I set my iron on a low setting and put an ironing cloth between the ribbon and the iron. I don't know if you can iron velvet ribbon though!!

Don't do it if the ribbon is backed with adhesive, though.

And yes, you can iron velvet - turn it over onto a towel or washcloth and iron the back side of it.

Yup you can iron ribbon, I usually put a clean towel over it first.Iron velvet on the back side.
When I was in school there was a cheerleader that would straighten her hair ribbons out using a curling iron set on low. She would make along quick pull with the ribbon through the barrel and cover.I have never tried it though.

Yes, I iron ribbon all the time. One tip is to put the iron in the middle of the ribbon and pull the ribbon out without moving the iron. Repeat holding the other end. That way the ribbon stays straight as well as flat.

I iron ribbon a lot too, and love to use a curling iron. It takes only a second, and is super easy peasy. Can't do velvet ribbon with the curling iron, you need a towel with an iron. If you want a crushed velvet look though, go right ahead.

I iron them too - sometimes I use a towel over the real delicate ribbons.

I've used a curling iron.

Just be sure it IS fabric ribbon and not wrapping/floral ribbon (which will likely melt).

I saw a "ribbon iron" in my LSS. Couldn't find the exact same one here but they do have this one....if you like gadgets!

I bought a tiny ribbon iron at J's with a coupon for $5.
It looks just like a reg iron, only pint size.

I have the ribbon iron below. I love it. I used a regular iron before that, but this one is so much faster and easier to use.

I have a mini hair straightner plugged in in my scraproom for this purpose. it works wonderfully !

I know ironing ribbon is a solution, I've had to do it for other things than scrapbooking, but I just saw someone demonstrate putting the ribbon through a Xyron 250. I wonder if that would get rid of the wrinkles.

Minor wrinkles, possibly, but overall - no, Xyron will probably just accentuate them.
