I am working on my daughter's adoption pages. I have seen the quotes in the library here. Does any one know where I could find more quotes and poems about adoption?

I posted somewhere that I saw where you were looking for other adoptive moms who scrapbook. I am one. I have 6 children through the miracle of adoption. Maybe one day I will actually post a picture or one of my pages...LOL

OMG I bawled my eyes out on that one miracles mamma. Yikes.

I just watched an episode of diy scrapbooking and they were doing an adoption lo. Here is the poem they had on their page:

The Gift of Life

I didn't give you the gift of life
but in my heart I know
the love I feel is as deep & real
as if it had been so.
For us to have each other
is like a dream come true.

I have no idea where the post is...But let me tell you real quick about my kids. I adopted three while I was single. Hannah who is 16 was left in a shopping bag when she was 2 days old. I got her when she was 6 months old. She had a note attached...OK just to keep you on the edge of your seat, I'll post more but gotta go pick up Hannah to get her senior pictures taken.

I wrote this poem for a new momma who had just adopted her daughter and will, one day, have contact with the birthmother.

"A Love Mission"

Through selflessness, she'll take this child
and raise her as her own.
She'll tell her of her birthmother
when she is fully grown.
An angel on a love mission-
this woman will be there,
to love this child and teach her things,
and comb her pretty hair.
She'll have her ups and downs,
of course,
as every mother does.
She'll cry herself to sleep, some nights,
wile trying to be tough.
No different will this mother be
than any other mom,
except that when her daughter's grown
and suddenly is gone,
she'll give a gift to her sweet girl
that only she can give.
She'll tell her of the hopes and dreams
that she has helped her live,
And when the story has been told
she'll pull her daughter close
and tell her of the love she shares
with someone who gave most.
She wants to tell her daughter all
so she won't have to ask-
An angel put upon this earth
for such a special task.
She'll worry none about lost love
when telling of this other,
for the love and confidence she has,
she'll share with her daughter's birthmother.

She is now getting ready to graduate from high school next year, is an honor student, basketball and track star

I adopted Caleb when he was 7 months. He was born to a teenage mother. He is now 14, very handsome but can drive you to drink in a minute! LOL!

Micaela is 14 and I adopted her when she was 4. She was the victim of abuse and neglect. She is my girly, girl.

I adopted those three while single. Then I got married. Met DH on the internet in a chat room. Next week we will celebrate our 7th anniversary.
Now I will tell you about the toddlers later cuz I have to go to church to practice for a play!

About Micaela.. You just have to love those girly girls. My Lexie was a victim of abuse/neglect too.

I am so impressed that you adopted while you were single. I wanted to but didn't have the courage to try. Congrats on your 7th anniversary coming up! You are awesome.

Almost forgot. I met my DH through the internet too. Turns out we lived 5 minutes apart almost all of our lives.

OK the continueing saga

Ezekiel who is 4- We went through 6 pbmoms. 3 were scams. One had the baby and placed her in foster care until the Tenn. time passed for her to sign on the day she was to sign she came and got the baby. I was devastated. The 6th one we drove all the way to NC, named him, held him etc and found out he was addicted to cocaine. No problem. But she decided to give him to a friend. Finally was matched with Zeke's mom, I saw him be born, cut the cord and bought him home. He is a mess! I just love him so much.

Zara is 3 and Gabriel is 2. They are blood siblings. This was the most bizarre of all my children. I took my 5th graders on a field trip to an amusement park in Houston that has since closed. (DH is happy about that...LOL) I was talking to some parents about adopting and one of them asked if I wanted to adopt again. Of course. Well she said she knew someone in our town who was trying to give her two kids away because she couldn't afford to keep them. Was I interested? Hello???? So she called from Houston to our town, the bmom said yes we could have them. The next Friday we bought them home just to give her a break and they have never gone back. We finalized the adoption the next summer. They were 16 months old and 5 weeks old when we got them. They are wonderful and so we are now a triracial family...LOL! DH is white, I am black, 4 children are black and 2 are Hispanic. We don't care, we just love kids.

Now I want to hear about your girls and how they came into your life.

No we didn't get to keep the note. 16 years later it is still considered an open case. However, when she was 3 years old a young woman was killed on New Year's Eve, shot in the back. You wouldn't believe how many ppl came to me after that and said that was Hannah's bmom. She says she doesn't care who that say is her bmom because God knew this was the family she was supposed to be in.

I bet you were devastated when the bio Mom changed her mind at the last minute and came and got the baby. I am so sad that you dealt with so many scams and failed adoptions. I am so glad you got to see Zeke born and cut the cord and all. I've never seen a baby born in my whole life. OMG about Zara and Gabriel's biomom just deciding to give them both up. I am so happy for you and your family! Triracial is a wonderful way to be! I bet the kids are thrilled to be with you. You sound like such a wonderful person!

How on earth is the case considered open after 16 years! Wow. At least you got to adopt her even though it's still open. That's so sad that woman got shot. If it was her biomom I hope she's at peace now.

My girls:

I got Jojo first even though she's the younger of my 2 girls. She is two. We actually brought her home from the hospital when she was three months old. She was born at 25 weeks and only weighed 1 lb. 11 oz. Her biomom had taken 270 Loritab in the two weeks leading up to her premature birth. We hadn't even finished being certified before we were called. They asked me to go to the hospital and room in with her to learn how to use the medical equipment she was on. She was on oxygen and an apnea monitor and was only 6 lb.s 11 oz. at 3 mos. So she was like a brand new baby b/c she was so tiny. The moment I met her she stole my heart. She fell asleep on me and I rocked her for hours. When my husband came to the hospital after work she looked at him through the window and lifted her little fist. He was smitten as well. We were so scared b/c the Dr's and nurses gave us such an awful prognosis for her. They said she'd never talk and probably wouldn't even turn over due to brain damage caused by lack of oxygen. (She was born dead. They had to shock her.) She truly is our miracle baby b/c now she is talking up a storm and knows her colors and several songs. She's so smart. She's even learning to walk and potty training. She wears braces on her legs and uses a medical walker to get around. She is just beautiful. It took us two years to adopt her. Her biomom was fighting for custody and saying she was going to follow her case plan. Of course she was sick as well after giving birth to the baby. Jojo left for 11 days when OCS placed her with an Aunt who wanted to "try" to take care of her. She called me in the middle of the night wanting to know what was wrong with the machine it was beeping. Well that meant she wasn't breathing. It was a nightmare. Finally after 11 days she called me and asked me to come get the baby. The caseworker and I went to get her and found that they had quit giving her some of her medicines and that her apnea monitor wasn't connected right. She was dehydrated and had pneumonia. She ended up in the hospital the next day for a week. Ever since then she has been ours. Her biomom and dad kept saying they were going to follow the case plan and get her back. The visits were horrible. Jojo would just cry and cry. Finally when OCS decided to terminate their rights they called me and asked me if we wanted to adopt her. They agreed to give up their rights b/c they didn't want it to say in her record that they were terminated. 6 mos. after they signed her over on April 13, 2006 she was adopted. We are soooo proud and think she's just so awesome!

We got Jojo in August of 2004 and then in October we got a call to do respite for a 2 year old little girl. Alexis. She just melted our hearts. She was a very shy withdrawn little girl who we later found out was not given to hugging ppl or talking a lot at all. From the moment she came to our home for that weekend I hugged on her and kissed her and treated her just as if she were my own. At first she looked at me funny and then she would come up and ask for hugs. After she left we talked to the social worker and found out she was coming up for adoption. They were seperating her and her biobrother who currently lived at the foster home she was staying in. Her bio brother has cerebral palsey (so does Jojo) but her foster mom wasn't spending enough time with Alexis so OCS thought she'd be better off with another family. Of course we said yes!! She came to live with us the week of Thanksgiving 2004 and we adopted her in December 2005. We took her to Disney World after the adoption. As in we went home and changed clothes and brought the girls to Disney World to celebrate. It was wonderful.

Alexis came into care due to abuse/neglect. She was malnourished. Her parents did not feed her. She had severe food issues. She'd hide it and beg to eat all the time. She would never say she was full. Slowly with therapy she's gotten much better. She also had a lot of problems with her temper. She would scream for hours when we first got her. My theory was she was trying to see if we would give her away too b/c she'd already been in two foster homes prior to ours. Her parents were very violent and had arrest records. I never met them. I do have two pictures of them.

Alexis is getting old enough now to ask me how come she hasn't been with us since she was a baby like Jojo. It just breaks my heart. I tell her that we got her as soon as we could and she'll be here forever. She still visits with her biobrother. They are very close. She's got quite a little personality and loves to sing.

Ok I've rambled on enough.

So have been reading your stories... takes very strong people to adopt children, especially ones who have had problems... So was touched by your stories... I am on the child end, was adopted when I was 5, but lived with them since I was a baby. My biological Mom was on drugs her whole pregnancy and they weren't sure enough to sign the papers until I was 5. My parents also adopted two other kids (my sister and brother), my sister was neglected, they got her 6 months after they got me... My aunt and uncle have adopted 8 special needs children... Thanks for adopting us... they will appreciate it!!

wow-ure stories r so nice-i was adopted at birth/i'm told my parents were too young & gave me up/my dd said my mom told her they were kileed in car accident-so i have no idea-but i was raised by a wonderful family-i also unfortunately got pregnant my senior year of high school-decided to give my son up for adoption so he could have a better life-i just wish there were easier ways to find adoptees & bio-parents!

I feel so blessed to have found this thread on adoption poems. I will be working on our future daughter's lifebook and will need poems. All of your stories are so incredible.

Yes we actually want to adopt one more. If we had a bigger house we'd go for more than three. But we love our house and it can only fit three. So one more. I actually got a call last week but it fell through.

Here in La. we have a registry so that if my girls want to meet their parents later. They check the registry. If their parents signed up for it too they will get their contact information. I know that both of my girls parents signed up. I also kept pertinent addresses and information for them in case they want to look for them.

I should probably mention that I was adopted by my step dad and never met my birth dad until I was 18. It gives me a really different persective on my kids meeting their birth parents. I found my biodad by of all things. Searching the yellow pages online. A name came up that matched his and I sent him a letter that said basically. Excuse me but I think you're my Dad. LOL He wrote back and said he was and we ended up talking on the phone and I went to meet him when I was 18. I have one step brother, one step sister, one half sister, and three half brothers. I'm the only one like me! LOL
