Heat Embossing Tool - which one?

I have purchased 2 of the "Marvy Uchida" heat guns from M's- the 1st one, i took back at least 3 times because they burned out almost instantly, then i got 1 that lasted a few years, mind you, i dont heat emboss often, then it just went out a few weeks ago, so i replaced it, unfortunetly, with the same brand ( thats all M's carries ) and i have returned that 1 twice already- so i just got my money back and plan to buy a different brand- anyone else have this issue with that heat gun and more importantly - what other brand of heat guns are out there? Which do you use?? TIA for the help.

I had one a few years back, but never really used it so I sold it to a friend. Now I'd like to try again..

I seen one that looked like a hair dryer at Archiver's. Does it do the same thing? They had another one that looked like the one at M's, but I don't remember brands.

I have the Darice one as well. I have had it for over a year and no complaints.

I have the pink Paper Studio one from Hobby Lobby and it works great!

ohhhhhhhh- That reminds me I have a 40% cpn for any paper studio product at HL! It came off there scrapbooking idea book. Its only 1.99 and you get the cpn!

My vote goes to the Heat It craft tool by Inkessentials. The one Tim Holtz uses. It's so cute and tiny and I find it more comfortable to hold than the other ones. Plus it's super quite, I've used it while talking on the phone and the person on the other line couldn't even hear it. It's fabulous but then again, what does Tim use that isn't!

I have a Milwaukee -- I have had it for at least 15 years and it still works like new. At the time, I spent a bundle on it but in the long run, I have not had to replace it. It heats up fast and evenly.

At the stamp shop I teach at, Milwaukees are in use.

Milwaukee is also the brand of tools so they are built to last.

I just got the purple one from Paper Studio (from HL) last week--it has two settings which I thought would come in handy for "drying" glimmer mist...haven't tried it for that yet. I have used it a few times for the heat embossing and like it so far, but then again the only other times I've "done" heat embossing were a couple of make'n takes and usually someone else was doing the heating part.

I have been using a Chicago brand heat gun from harbor freight tools. It was $10 and works awesome. It also has two heat settings and heats embossing powder in seconds(:

I bought the pink one at hl for $20, and I've had it for about 2 years! It stunk really bad the first couple of uses but it's all good now!

I have to second the Heat it tool by Inksentials/Ranger. My mom gave me hers when she got her pink pig (she likes pink) and she had it since the 90's. It's still working perfectly to this day! LOVE IT!

I also have the purple one from the Paper Studio and I have been really happy with it. I bought the one from EK Success once and it burnt out the first night I used it, so I don't recommend that one.

I have the Darice Heat Tool from J's- I've had it FOREVER- I think it was one of the first scrappy tools I bought at least 10 years ago. LOVE IT! It gets plenty hot and it's great.
