My Cricut mat is not sticky ~ help!

Okay after only a week of using, I can not get anything to stick to the mat anymore. Is there any tips or tricks to get it re-stickified? (ya I know not a word, lol)

I went to the website but a lot of people say you shouldn't try to do anything to the mat as it may void the warranty of the Cricut. Any help is MUCH appreciated, I was totally looking forward to an actual night with my bug I dont want to buy a new mat right now either ~ please help ~ Thx

You could try a lint roller. The papers often leave a bit of paper fuzz on the mat.

I know some people do it everytime they use the machine. Should help extend the life of your mat.

I had the same problem with my mat, and it happened the very first time I went to use it! I've been putting glue dots on the cardstock in the very tips of the corners and then putting it on the mat and it's been working great for me. The blade even cut the glue dot one time and it didn't affect anything. Only problem is it rips the corners of your CS, or sometimes the glue dots gets stuck to the mat, but I've been able to just unstick it with my finger nail.

someone told me that cleaning it with your stamp cleaner spray works well.

yep stamp cleaner, scrubbing with liquid soap, and lettung dry will perk that mat right back up, and these do not hurt the machine, think about it how can they the company just wants all of us to buy more mats!! Didn't they think we would find ways to prolong the life of these little puppies?? Hope that helps.

This is really good to know as I have already purchased 2 more sets of mats since Halloween....

Also, if it's still a little sticky when I put the paper on the mat I put it on the carpet to rub it on better. It makes it stick better so it doesn't tear.

I've also found that if I make all of my cuts at once, immediately remove the cardstock and put the protective sheet back on the mat it collects less fibers from the paper and the air (no, I haven't dusted in a while, lol). Another thing I've been doing..and I know I shouldn't, is that I haven't been doing any hardcore pressing of the cardstock. We all know how hard it is to get the sheet off of a new mat, so I figured that until I get my tool kit I would just not press the paper down as much. It works like a charm but my luck may wear off when my mat looses it's stickiness.

I also heard that applying a layer of Wacky Tac Postit Note Adhesive will give you a new layer of repositional stickiness. Since I can't find it, I can't try it.
