Fiskars or Cutterpede Rotary Cutter?

I am in dire need of a new paper cutter and I think I have settled that I need to get a rotary cutter. So which one do you prefer? The Fiskars or the Cutterpede? Which one can you find replacement blades for easily and How do you like yours?

I want to put this on my Christmas list so any tips would be great.

I love my cutterpede and you can find it at Walmart, so that is pretty convenient.

i have the cutterpede and i love mine. you can find it at walmart, michaels, hobby lobby and joanns (and most of thier websites).

Thanks! I don't have a Walmart near me (amazing huh?) but I do have Michaels and Joanns. I just didn't see replacement blades for the cutterpede at Joanns.

Anyone else have pros or cons?

I was playing with a friend's cutterpede. I like how you can fold back the arm if you are making cards etc. I have a fiskars now and am wanting to change to cuterpede.

I have a Fiskars rotary, and love it. It cuts very straight, and I've never had trouble finding replacment blades. The reason I chose the Fiskars over the Cutterpede is that I heard from many people that after awhile, the Cutterpede doesn't cut so straight anymore.

I have the cutterpede. I used the Fiskars regular cutter, not rotary, but it did not cut straight. The cutterpede cuts straight, and I love the arm and how it folds out and fits 6 in paper perfectly.

I had many fiskars cutters and hated them. They did not cut straight. I finally got the cutterpede. I like it alot. I had a hard time trying to find the replacement strip for it. A few weeks ago, I bought the Fiskars rotary cutter after seeing one demonstrated. It has the bar that locks the paper into place, so you get a straight cut everytime. It came with the cutting blade. I ended up getting the scoring blade from Menards for like $3.00 or so. It was expensive everywhere else I looked.

I vote for cutterpede too. It was a tad funky to get used to at first ( I had been using the grey and orange fiskars)but I love it now. I also like that walmart carries it and the interchangable cutters you can us with it. They also have them at Micheal's and Hobby Lobby...can we say I am addicted to 40% off coupons?

wow...i thought i was the only one who had trouble with the fiskars! mine doesn't cut straight...when i mat my photos (or other things, i help my second-grade-son mat things for school projects) it's just...crooked...no matter how hard i try, it just won't cut straight!!! thinkin' i better ask santa for a cutterpede this christmas!

I will be the lone voice of dissent- I HATED the cutterpede.

I used to use the fiskars euro trimmer, went to the cutterpede, went to the PC green trimmer, and am going back to the fiskars euro.

The only fiskars I have seen cut straight is the euro- the trick is you have to really hold the bar down and cut slowly.

I have not tried the rotary but would love to!

I love my cutterpede, you can change the green strip that it cuts on (one strip can be worn down in 4 areas if you keep flipping it). i havent had a problem with straightness either.

I bought the cutterpede because it was the easiest to find replacements for in my area. I loved it until it broke. 4 days from being an entire month old the arm just snapped right off. I was worried about that happening before I bought it, but I hadn't heard of anyone complaining about it, so I went ahead and got it. I was careful with it the whole time I had it because I was afraid of that happening. I still havent replaced it.

Hi, I disagre with most everyone.

I really dislike the cutterpede and I also dislike rotary trimmers as a personal trimmer. They are good if you need to cut a lot of paper but I find the straight blade cutters more versitile. For instance, you can't cut a square in the middle of your paper(for say a frame) with a rotary because you can't line the blade up like a straight blade.

I agree with the post about the euro fiskars trimmer too. They solved the bowing problem(and the not cutting straight) by making this one a three track blade. Also, you have to remember to always bump you paper up against the ridge at the bottom of the fiskars trimmer and cut towards yourself or else you paper can move resulting in a non-straight cut.

Just one more opinion!

Cutterpede is a godsend! I love all the deco blades and perforater blade you can get with it!
I wouldn't own any other cutter again! (and I have had several fiskars)

I like cutterpede, I have never had any problems with mine. I had a friskars first and hated it, it always cut just a little crooked.

I use the Cutterpede now. I used Fiskars and loved it, but when I took a class (SDU) it came with a bag full of goodies and the Cutterpede was one of them. I use it all the time and wouldn't scrapbook without it.

I have a fiskars 12" and I LOVE it. I cut everything with it - paper, photos, you name it.

I tried a cutterpede at a crop recently - it was on the table where we were constructing our make n take page kits - and all I did was mess up my paper - I could not get that thing to cut straight for the life of me. I finally (after wasting four or five pieces of paper) went and got my fiskars so I could do the project. I'll use scissors before I use one of those things again.

I have the fiskars 12" it cuts ok.... hard to keep straight. I am checking out the CM new cutter (12").
