What is wrong with my cricut!!!

I last used it a week or so ago and it worked fine. Today I turned it on, chose what I wanted to cut, loaded the mat, hit cut...and it went through all the motions of cutting but didn't so much as scratch the paper! I fiddled with the pressure setting and the blade setting and nothing made a difference. For some reason I cannot figure out the blade doesn't seem to be reaching the paper. Does anyone know why or how to fix it? I NEED MY CRICUT!

Did you check your blade? Is it in the housing correctly? It may have slipped up inside the housing and is not able to reach the paper.

mine did that when it had a small piece of paper stuck to the blade somehow,,,,

I took it out, found the paper, took it off, replaced the blade, and VOILA,,,,worked fine,

but I believe it also happened to someone else and they had to have it replaced

check that blade. Take the housing out of the machine, and act like you are going to replace the blade. It might have something stuck in it.

Whatever the cause, it makes me sad.

I've taken my blade cartridge out before, and then put it back in at the wrong position. It looked fine, and seemed to work, but when I looked closely, it was sitting to high to make a cut. I removed it, then put it back in at the proper (and lower) setting.

Me too! I've replaced the blade before and not had the number facing "out" enough, so it looks like it's cutting, but not actually making contact with the paper. So, I agree that you should reinstall the blade and be sure the housing hasn't gotten bumped out of position somehow. I hope that's the answer since it's probably the easiest to fix!

I seriously just had this problem and I called Provo Craft and what they told me is apparently the spring that controls the blade housing has broke, and since they cant just send you a new piece they have to send you a whole new cricut! But they are very very helpful and quick! I called on a thursday and my new cricut was here the following Monday! Plus I didnt have to spend a dime it was all covered under warranty!

But this is how it all works! You will need to find your receipt because you will have to fax in a copy of it and then they send you a new cricut and you will pack up your old cricut, power cord and blade housing and manual IN the box that the new one came in and then attach the mailing label that comes in the box to the outside and ship it out! So easy! Plus you get to keep the original carts that came with yours AND get 2 new ones and a new mat! SO awesome! So call ASAP, so you can get your new one!

And let me clarify something! You will need to pack your cricut in the original box that it came in and put it in the brown box that the new one comes in!

Also, before you pack it up write down the serial & something else number on either the back or bottom of the cricut!

I really hope it isn't the broken spring thing, then because as cool as a brand new one would be, I don't have the receipt since it was a Christmas gift and I don't have the box because my husband threw it out.
