heat tool or blow dryer?

I am about to head to the craft store and was thinking about getting a heat tool to do some embossing. But is it really necessary to get THE tool or can I just use my hairdryer?

I think the heating tool gets hotter than a blow dryer. If you can, use a 40% off Coupon to get your heating tool, that's what I did! Have fun shopping

I don't think that a hairdryer gets hot enough. The heat embosser gets extremely hot.

hair dryer blows it around too much, and doesn't get hot enough

I'd go for the heat tool, a blow dryer would probably blow away some of the embossing powder before it melts it, if it does.

I love my Marvy, which I got here at sb.com's Superstore. Do NOT get the Hot Boss by Carolee's Creations; I bought that because it was a little cheaper, it wasn't very effective at all.

Before someone invented the heat tool, I used to use an old toaster to do embossing with stamps/ink. You stamp the image with the special ink, add the powder and shake off the excess, then push down the button on the toaster. Hold your paper (image side up) a few inches above the toaster and watch it "Emboss".

I did this for many years prior to the actual invention of the "heat tool".

My opinion is go with the heat tool. It's easier to use and control than other 'making do' methods. The hairdryer would blow too much....and I don't know if it would heat it enough or not. I could never get the toaster oven thing to work for me either.

I have the coloriser by EKS, have always been happy with it. Tried the hairdryer once--disaster!

Yeah, go for the heat gun. It's controlled and get very hot. I've tried the blow dryer before and it just makes a mess.

I have the coloriser now and I love it. It also does not make me hunger for Toast when using it either!

I share the popular opinion.. definitely the heat tool. Hairdryers are not hot enough and force too much air making a mess.

You definately need the heat tool. The blow dryer just doesn't get hot enough. If you have AC Moore or Michael's you can usually get one for around 12 bucks with a Coupon .
