12x12 and 8.5x11 paper storage

What do you think is the best way to store your papers, Horizontally or Vertically?

What is the way that you actually store your papers?

Does your work surface allow for Vertical storage?

If your papers are stored Horizontally, does it matter if the lid/cover is tight-fitting or not?

Does it matter if the storage is stackable?

Any comments or ideas on storing precious papers?

I would say that vertical is probably the easiest way to store paper. I don't have room to store mine vertically though.

That being said, mine are stored horizontally in 12x12 Sterilite drawers and this way works for me personally. I store most of my pp by manufacturer. I do have two drawers that are stored by theme, such as winter, Christmas, baby, etc. Each of my drawers are labeled with what brand/theme of paper is in each drawer. I have 9 drawers of pp. I then have my cardstock sorted by color in separate drawers.

I do like that my paper is covered by being in the drawers. Keeps dust, etc. out for the most part. It does matter to me about the drawers being stackable, as I have a small room for my stuff. I have 4 Sterilite containers for my paper and they each have 3 drawers..so 12 drawers for my paper and they stack on top of each other. I then have a 7 drawer Sterilite container with smaller drawers that hold my scraps and 8.5x11 papers. When I'm looking for paper, I just pull the drawer out and flip through until I find what I'm looking for. Even with having so much paper, I pretty much know what I have and know where to look when I'm on the hunt for pp!!

I like vertical....all about saving space for me. Also, it makes it easy for me to locate a paper and pull it out. I can not imagine trying to get something off the bottom of a stack. (I have about 6 feet of paper)

I use the Cropper Hopper vertical paper holders.

I have been setting up my scrap room, so I have been going through all my paper. I have it stored vertically in Cropper Hopper paper holders sorted by manufacturer,and or paper line. I find that this way I can look through it like a filing cabinet. I put shelves in the closet and and thats where its stored. I also have my specialty papers and transparenties stored the same way.

I store my 12 X 12 vertically in several Cropper Hopper s......My 8 1/2 X 11 I store in a card board horizontal divided storage that I got at an office supply....i think it is designed to be a mail station but it is nice cause I can sort by color.....

I store my 12 x 12 paper vertically in paper takers that close, so I can take them to crops. Not the best system for seeing things at a quick glance, but it works for me. I tried the Crop Hoppers for awhile, but it didn't work for me if I went to a crop.

I store mine horizontally, because that's what I have space for. its in a black paper shelving unit that I bought from michaels a few years ago.

currently redoing mine. Sorting all of it by color into 2 1/2 gallon ziplock bags and hanging from a closet rod off hangers.

going to buy more of those 4 tier skirt hangers because I can store all of one color family on one hanger that way.

I'll eventually have all the 8 1/2 by 11 in one gallon bags hanging up there as well.......eventually

when I get it all sorted and organized, I'll use ribbon on the hangers so I can easily identify each hanger by color family or theme in some cases.

At the scrapbook store I shop at, Vickie has her clearance papers in a milk crate container. Colors are divided by cardboard/chipboard.

I am going to organize mine this way when i find some milk crates.

Oooh, I like that milk crate idea. I have two small folding crates which I use for magazines and a few other smaller items. The milk crate would be perfect for larger papers, etc. What a fun!
