Crayola markers? Safe to use?

Do you all use watercolor markers such as Crayola in your sbs? I printed frogs for a swap I am in..and the bottom green is blue cause it ran out of yellow toner or something! So I was thinking of just coloring them...could do it with colored pencils, but thought the markers would make it evener.

Most water-based markers are acid free. However, I have also read many Crayola brand products are not. Also, water based markers will fade over time.

Scented markers (fruit scents are common) are generally not safe.

As far as I know the crayons are safe so I would assume the markers are too. I've seen crayons used in a magazine on a newer technique - the resist technique. It looks really cool, has anyone tried it?

Found the following on a scrapbook related site re: the safety of many items (can't post the link).

The wax in crayons can bleed leaving a clear colored stain.

Heat changes the composition of crayons causing them to melt and run.

Crayons contain no acid.

maybe ill just use my pencils....

however, Model Magic is not considered to be archival and as you know,
scrapbook materials are usually labeled "acid free" which we cannot claim
for Model Magic.

CRAYOLA Acrylic Paint, Gel Pens, Metallic FX Markers and Washable Glue
Sticks have been tested and are considered acid free. Most other Crayola
products have a mid-range pH level, however, we are unable to guarantee that
they are acid-free. In addition, the color pigments used in our products may
fade over time when exposed to natural and artificial light.

I wouldn't use them, especially not the washable markers.

I used those on some fun foam for a halloween costume. I rained, and all the marker bled off!!
