Scrapbook as a wedding gift??

Topic Closed

    Hello,

I'm fairly new to scrapbooking, so please bare with me. I'd like to make a wedding themed scrapbook as a gift for my friends who are getting married in October. I'm thinking it would easier for me to create a blank book of layouts so that the bride could add the pictures after the wedding. That way there will be a lot more pictures she can choose from (from ALL of her friends/family vs. just my pics and some from people I know).

I have a few questions, though. First, do you think it's OK to give a blank scrapbook or does it look like I'm giving a gift that requires the bride to do work? Also, the areas that I mat for photos...should I make them all 4x6 or various sizes/shapes? It seems that if I do them other than 4x6 it will be even more work for the bride and I'm not sure how crafty she is. I don't want the gift to become a hassle for her.

    Ideas? Thoughts?

    THANKS!

You could offer to put the pictures in. I think anything hand made is a nice gift.

yeah i'd do all 4x6...perhaps one layout could be for a "formal" portrait in 8x10...fyi i made wedding albums for my brother in law and my father in law too...they both LOVED them!!!

Did you make blank books or did you put the photos in yourself?

You could always ask for a few photos that she would like in an album and then put the album together for her. That way you know the types of photos you are dealing with and if they should be cropped. In the card for the wedding, just let her know what her gift is and that it is to come...after you get the photos of course.

I made a scrapbook for my brother's wedding. I gave it to them on their wedding day. It was all complete without the pictures. I used their wedding colors and everything. I made mats that were 4.5 x 6.5 so they could just stick the pictures in as they wished. I did make some bigger mats for bigger pictures (a 8.5x10.5 mat on the first page and some 5.5x7.5 mats in the back for professional pictures of family). I made specific pages for the rehearsal dinner, getting ready, the procession, saying the vows, first kiss, leaving the church, the reception, the first dance, garter toss, dollar dance, cutting the cake, professional family pictures, pictures of friends, etc. I also had a small journaling box for every page (one journaling box for getting ready, the procession, etc even if they were a 2 page LO the journaling box was on just one page then). The album was 12x12, 20 pages (40 LOs).

    THEY LOVED IT!!

I also gave them a tape runner and ZIG pen to finish the book.

i used photos i took myself at both weddings, but they would have been just as happy if there weren't photos yet...couldn't be easier to just tape pictures down...and then voila a beautiful book made with love!

I gave a scrapbook as a gift for my husband's best friend's wedding. It was for their first year together, and had two pages for the wedding, two for the honeymoon, two for their first house, and then two for each season together. The last page was for their first anniversary. I also gave them double sided tape and photo corners with the book. They loved it!
