mixing color and black and white photos?

Is it ok to mix color and black and white photos? have any of you done it? how do you do it?

I have. This is one of my more recent one's. I love both pics but they are so similar I didn't want to do 2 LOs.

I've seen quite a few as well that used similar pictures from a birthday party or other event that kept one in color and the rest b&w to 'feature' the color picture.

I think it would be really cool, the one in color would really stand out, It'd be like the feature picture. I can picutre in my head, lol, 4 pics, just rectangles on a page, bl & wh, and maybe the color print in the middle in color overlapping just a bit, maybe a large oval? Something to try????

It is perfectly fine to mix the two.

It's not a problem. If you look in my gallery, I have two lo's of colored photos on black/white cardstock. Go for it. That's what I did.

I saw a picture in a magazine just the other day, where the creator had used black and white photographs to show pictures of her son at ages 0, 1, 2, and 3, and then a bigger color photo of her son at age four. This seems like a good way to combine different events. Also, at one time I created a layout where I had two identical photos except one was color and the other was b&w. I cut out the face of the color picture and then I glued it on top of that part on the b&w photo. It turned out pretty good! I should post it sometime...

what about useing mosly color photo's with one black and white? Most of myphotos are in color but I have some very artsy black and white's.

I did that here, with the main pic (birth announcement) in sepia with supporting pics in color.

I think it works great if you do mix black/white and color together! Let us know how it turns out.

Remember YOU are the artist/creator of your pages! If you want to mix black and white photos there is nobody to say you cannot. just because one person may not do it does not mean it is wrong, it just means we are all different and may do things differently.

It is absolutely OK. If it looks funny to you, though, don't do it. I think it looks very nice when I've seen layouts that incorporate black and white, and color photos together.

I don't have any examples of my own, but I do have a whole album in my gallery that has black and white photos on colored paper if you want to see that too.

I have many pages that have b&w photos and colored ones too...they can be very striking but still suttle.

I haven't done it too much, but I like the effect that it has. Here are a couple where I used both on one page:
