Trick for letter stickers?

What is the trick to adhering letter stickers as a title? I put just the ends of them on a clear ruler, but had trouble with the "m", and then when I went to stick them down to my lo, they were so stuck to my ruler, I had trouble getting them off. Any advice? Or do I just need more practice?

I wish I had more advice to offer. I've never actually tried using any letter stickers. I have them, just been kind of scared to use them. I'm afraid I won't get them on straight. I would think using the ruler like you've been doing is a good idea. Maybe just holding the ruler onto your page and using it as a guide instead of actually putting the stickers on the ruler would help?

i use a rular, and draw a light line across the page then i put the letters across the line. then i erase the line

try not to put much pressure on the letters. My GF does this all the time without much problem.

Dont worry too much about making sure they are EXACTLY straight - people looking at the page wont know the difference.

That's what I do if I use them, but I hardly ever do.

I usually don't put them on straight so I can avoid this problem. hth

i tried the ruler thing, i had to place them on the ruler twice and i had to have them no more than a 1/8" on the ruler, really complicated. i usually just draw a light pencil line and place them by eye, i've gotten better over time and can get them pretty straight now.

tips
watch the serifs (the feet on the letters) and use that to tell how close the letter is to it's buddy
if you have acenders and decenders (d=acenders g=decenders) its almost eaiers to have your line in the middle of all the letters.
dont get too up tight, designers have to go alot more work to get a sideways letter than you do and it's character

I never worried too much about my letters being perfectly straight. Sorry can't help.

I use letter stickers all the time. I don't worry if they're not perfectly straight. Most of the ones I use are repositionable so if I make a mistake I can move it.

It helps to use the tweezers and a straight edge. I usually just eyeball where I want the sticker and then move on.

I haven't tried it yet, but there was a thread on this earlier. The person suggested using wax paper. Draw a straight line about 1/4 the depth of your letters down from the edge of the wax paper. Line your letters up on that line and the tops will be free to stick to your layout, then peel away the wax paper.

I don't know if they still make it but Creative Memories used to have a thing called the titletopia (or something like that) for putting letter stickers on straight (or in an arch)

CM's Titletopia is awesome! I have one and use it alot! I love the Multipurpose tool too! I could not scrap without my multipurpose tool!

I have the CM titletopia and have used it when I want to place letters in spirals and such. For the most part I eyeball everything. It usually turns out pretty good. One thing I do it only lightly lay the sticker down on one edge. Then if I need to reposisiton I can easily. Once I like where the stickers are positioned I press them all down.

When I use letter stickers I purposefully make them wavy or arched so I don't have this problem. If I did want them straight, I'd just eyeball it.

I agree with the multipurpose tool from CM. I personally choose not to use it, but people who use it swear by it. The titletopia from CM - I think that's if you want to print titles in straight lines, I believe.

Tweezers are a BIG help!!

I learned a cool trick a lot time ago. Get two empty sticker sheets. Wax paper will work too, but it's more flimsy - blank sticker sheets work better because they're thicker.

Overlap the two sticker sheets. Then you put your stickers on them, with the "line" between the two sheets about halfway up your letters. You can stick and restick the stickers to the sticker sheets til you have them spaced nicely. Then remove the bottom sticker sheet, so half of your letters are hanging off. You stick that half down, then slowly peel them off the bottom sticker sheet and finish sticking them to your page.

It actually works really well for me.
