Where does everyone keep their scrapbooks

Hi There!
Just curious to know where everyone keeps the scrapbooks they make. I have about 7 large 12x12 books that I hate keeping in the closet...I've displayed 2 hybrid ones on bookshelves but am wondering what you guys do- especially the members who have loads of books...any ideas?!

I have bookcases in my living room. A good portion of the shelves are now scrapbooks.

My 12x12 albums are on shelves here in the basement. It's not my first choice, but we don't really have room up in our living room (too many toys!). It is handy at times because they are right here if I need to look at something when doing a LO, or if I'm trying to do something on our very old and very slow desktop computer I'll flip through an album.

All of my mini albums are in the living room on some shelves. My oldest likes to look through them periodically and that's more convenient for him.

Mine are kept on shelves in my scrap room, but I rotate one up to the living room when we have company coming over, people always like to look through them, especially if they haven't seen them before/for a while.

I had the exact same problem, albums stored in a closet with shelves. But I scored one of these industrial type bookcases walking through the mall when the Waldenbooks store was closing. They had several they were selling along with everything else, so I picked one up - it's on wheels too! 12 x 12 albums fit perfectly with a few inches to spare over the top, and I wish I'd been able to get another one because eventually, space will run out on this one.

I had mine on my large bookshelf in the living room as my son loves looking at them. They are in a locked cabinet now though as in the earthquakes some of the books fell on the floor and with the liquefaction a lot of albums were ruined with all of the mud and silt coming through the floorboards and spreading over the fallen scrapbooks. So now even in the shakes they stay put on the shelf!

Good friend of ours made an oak shelf just for my 12 x 12 scrapbooks. I have over 20 of the 12 x 12 albums. they fill 2 of the shelves. I keep embellishments and other size albums on the other 2 shelves.

Lucky you! See, that's just the thing, it's hard to find shelves that will accommodate 12 x 12 albums, and alot of them due to the weight, easily. So custom would be the way to go if at all possible ...

that's why I was so excited when I saw mine outside the store, I happened to have just bought an album and had it in my bag and I right away pulled it out and tried it on the shelf to make sure. And those bookstore shelves, they're the same ones used at the library I saw today, so they're built to stand the weight of alot of hardcover books.

Long ago when it was just a few albums, I had them on a bookshelf but I was always nervous about the weight.

I plan on putting one or two on a coffee table like a coffee table book. (when my kids are a little older!!! )

The expedit cubes sold at Ikea fit a 12x12 album perfectly! I have them in my scrap room and that is where I keep my albums!!!

We had an old entertainment center that went around an old style big screen (it was meant to hold electronic components like old VCRs) It's filled with albums. Bonus, my stamps in CD cases are in the old CD holders)

I think many of these things are available very cheap as people go to flat screens on the wall. They are deeper than traditional bookshelves.

I also have a shelf in my scraproom with all my scrapbooks. It's just a raw wooden one from Walmart/Zellers-I think it's more for garages or something but it work just fine and it's deep enough for 12x12.

Pics I don't scrapbook stay on the computer like the above poster said.

yes there are a lot of pics that stay in my computer as well...but i sometimes go a little overboard and print way too many! just wondering what to do with the excess...any creative tips? i know friends tell me they send the excess off to relatives, but not sure how many people will be that thrilled to get baby pics of my soon to be 6 year old :P

I have given all but maybe 4 books to members of my family, so storage for me is not a problem.

my books are on overfull bookcases and I don't know what to do with the overflow ...

pics that I've printed but don't scrap go into a photo file box sorted by date and event

I have my before digital pics sorted by event and year in photo boxes stored in my scraproom. My digital pics are sorted on discs by event and then again by year! I keep a copy in the gun/fire safe and also gave a copy to my mother. Recently I started uploading to photobucket from my phone since I tend to use it more than my camera.

Great ideas, thank you! I think I should probably set aside some time to go through my hard copy prints and actually file them. I like the photo box system since they don't have to take up so much space. I guess I need to be more selective when printing out pics...thanks again to everyone for responding!!

I actually shred the pics that I print but don't use. I don't keep any of them. But I do my albums chronologically and I put a CD or DVD of ALL the pics in the back of the album. So for my son's baby album for instance, I scrapped the best pics and then put a DVD of all of the pics in that little folder in the back of the album. I sort my photos on my computer into folders by year so it's pretty easy to just copy the whole folder onto a DVD.
As for my albums, as per the pp, I use the Ikea Expedit bookcases as they hold a 12x12 perfectly.

I rotate my books around by whats on display in our family room. I try to switch the albums out every month or so. I have a closet with custom shelves that I store them in when they aren't on display that DH did up for me.

12x12 albums and 8.5x11 albums are in my living room on a small bookcase that is just about full - I am considering an expedit purchase... Mini albums are in several places, a few on display in a basket in the living room, 2 of my favorites are on hooks on the wall over my scrap table and the bulk of them(I have made lots and given lots as gifts) are in a glass door cabinet in the upstairs hall. Besides space, my second biggest issue is keeping things cat proof!!

Photos that are not scrapped just stay on the computer for the most part. Occasionally I decide not to use something and have an Iris photo box where I keep printed but not used ones and keep them for 365 fillers or making calendars or other miscellaneous projects. Someone on this site, I think Henri-Jean said she uses old/extra photos to die cut for letters for titles, I love this idea but have not used it yet.

Hi everyone. I am new here and was reading this post. I have mine under an end table. I am fairly new to scrapbooking so I don't have that many yet. But I keep all of my pics on discs and the puter also. Please make sure you back up all of your pics on discs so if the puter crashes you don't lose precious pics. My son didn't get all of his on discs once and his puter crashed so I do know how upsetting it can be.

Right out on a desk in the living room. I am very happy to say my 2 yr old grandson absolutely loves looking at my scrapbooks. Kinda cute that he looks at pictures of himself a year ago and says "Sissy". Have to keep reminding him that is indeed him.

I keep them in my scrapbook room

My books are on shelves in my scrap space in the loft. (I have so many I actually need more shelves. ) This way they are near me to work on and the kids can ask to see a book too. During b-day parties or holidays I will bring a book or 2 to the living room for people to look at.

for pics that I don't scrap, they are in the scrapbooks too. i print out most of the pics i take and they all go into a scrapbook. from there i pick the ones to make into a LO. that way i can't lose anything if the comp crashes (which happened once) and pics won't get lost in a box. this is partially why i have so many books.

I keep mind in my scrapping room too. I like to have them up there where I am creating.

Since I turned my guest room into a scraproom my albums are on a bookcase in the living room. However, prior to that, I kept them in the guest room. I had guests mention to me that they had enjoyed looking at my scrapbooks late at night.
