scanning disc negatives from the 1980s

I'm at my witts end. i used to have one of those Kodak disc cameras from the 1980s, I have over 40 disc negatives that i would like to scan. I have found companies that will charge an arm and a leg. i would love to get them on my computer but i don't know how.

any suggestions?

Try scancafe dot com. I don't know if they scan those items in particular, but they are very reasonable and do beautiful work.

oh man,,,,,,I remember those things could you just have them developed and then scan the PHOTOS??? I'm probably being dense here,,,,,

Or have them developed and at the same time, order the CD!

Hmm, I wonder how much it is to develop those now?

I tried that a long time ago. They don't have the technology to do something so acientI guess Kodak didn't thank ahead

those things were fun, but as I recall, the film was expensive and they didn't hold many pics,,,,they went the way of the wind not long after they came out,,,,,kinda like 8 track tapes, lol,,,,

I remember those cameras -- used to have one myself, but it was so limiting I quit using it. I like the idea of developing the negatives and then scanning the photos. That's going to be the easiest thing, I think. You'll have to call around to find a business that can develop from those negatives... I think maybe a Ritz Camera or something like that could do it if WalMart or Walgreen's can't. At any rate, good luck!!

Here's a quote from the forum I linked above. Sounds like a photo lab should be able to do it.

Kodak disk film is nothing more than typical C-41 film cut in the shape of a circle. We used to process this stuff back at my old pro lab by clipping the film to a 4x5 rack and processing it in our regular dip-n-dunk. Quality with the disk format is marginally better than a 110.

the only place that I know of that can deal with disc film is a place called Rocky Mountain Film Lab. Google it and it will come up.

The problem isn't developing the film (though most labs like Ritz or Walgreens aren't equipped to do that) as much as it is having a printer that can accept disc negatives. The negs need to be put in a mask that needs to be a certain length away from the lens, and that distance changes depending on the negative size and such. No one makes a mask for a consumer lab that is the correct dimensions for the disc film.

My mom loved her disc camera, I have lots of these too. Hope there is a solution.

I called Ritz a while back to develop my Advantix film. I'm now looking into scanning negatives. $$$$$ Yikes!

I have the answer cause I had these too my photographer said that they can open and you get your negatives back

I also t hink you can open them your self cauase my photographer said that a strip was inside already
