USE THE WASHI TAPE

Use your washi tape ASAP.... lol... I have a little collection of tape, maybe 30 rolls for different kit clubs, manufacturers , ect, none form dollar store, and whats frustrating is half the time you cant get it off the roll. And when you stick it down on your layout it peels right up ...and certain kit clubs, I will not mention... give you 8000 feet of it... that's now in the garbage... OK I'm off my soapbox....

I know that some of my washi tapes have misbehaved in the past (no more than a few rolls). I think it may have something to do with the humidity and heat of my art room.

Yup, an old roll of Queen & Co washi went bad on me a while back, couldn't peel off more than a little at a time, and it tore and just stuck to itself. But other ones of the same brand still seem okay.

I do notice a lot of them peel up though, especially the Tim Holtz tissue tapes.

I never could get it to stick down. So when I see a million washi tape projects on Pinterest or wherever, I get irritated.

The two rolls I bought I use like painter's tape. Just for a temporary hold or for masking a line for paint.

i have very little of it but I love the look. sorry to hear it goes south quickly

I was so excited about the sports washi (I think from Queen & CO?) a couple of years ago, but it's been a PITA to use. If I go nice and sloooooooooooow (and pay attention) I can usually get what I need. Otherwise I've had pretty decent luck with my Washi--I just have too much of it between what I've chosen to buy and what I've gotten in kits.

I use mine like scotch tape and to hold down my dies when I use my Big Shot.

Me to Donna, I have several pieces temporally stuck to my Big Shot for the next time I run a die thru it! Or I hold my journal boxes in place as I run them through the printer. Then I can still use them on the layout if I choose or in one case it fell on a layout and I could not get it up without ripping the paper underneath so I left it!!

I have like 50-60 rolls of Washi and if I have a problem with them sticking I just put a little bit of adhesive on the ends. As for the ripping, I just use those pieces as added elements to look like roughed edges on my layouts. Sorry you have has bad experiences with them

I have a small collection because they look so pretty and so many other people seem to find great ways to use them. Mine, mostly just stay in the drawer.

I've had the same problems with brand NEW washi tapes from the same kit club. Not that I was surprised: after a couple of kits full of rubbish, you kind of know what to expect from them.

Mind you, much depends on how the tapes are treated in storage and in transit. I bought some from a usually-reliable source last fall and was annoyed to discover that they had all fused together as well. When I called the supplier, they said that the whole lot had sat in a container on the CA docks for weeks before they rec'd it, which is probably why it went bad.
