Custom Designs with Cricut Imagine?

Hey guys, was wondering if someone could answer this question for me, Ive been doing lots of research on these things but I cant seem to find a clear-cut answer on wether or not I can easily make custom designs with it from scratch..

I love to make things with paper for scrapbooking and I sell them in my Etsy shop, and when I heard about the Cricut I thought about how it would be greeeeaat to boost my productivity. There's only so much I can cut when I cut each embellishment by hand! So I could make custom designs with this thing and just hit print.. that would be great!

So, it is it possible? Is it hard to learn? Are there any limitations? Thanks!

All cricut machines are cartridge based.
However, with use of Design studio or the new PC Craftroom, you would be able to "build" designs using images on cartridges that you own.
For instance, you could take a circle and weld flowers/flourishes to it to make a frame, but there is no free hand capibilities with any of the Cricut machines or software program.

If you would like to truly cut your own designs, then you would need to look at another brand cutter such as Silhouette, Craft Robo, Wishblade, etc. Cricut is and probably always will be cartridge based, so you could only cut the designs you purchase from Provo Craft.
