scrapbook album covers

Does anyone have any good tips on how to decorate the outside of a plain 12x12 album. What types of paints or adhesives work best? I don't want to go crazy on the covers, just add some sort of title and decoration. Thanks

I was wondering the same thing. I have one covered in cloth. I thought about trying rub-ons but have no idea if it works.

On one of my albums (the one I used for cub scouts) I just put some extra stickers that didn't really go with any specific page, but were ideal for the outside.

If it is a themed book, I have used an old boy scout shirt with badges in place and sewed it to make a cover. Also used extra fabric from the flower girls dress to make a cover for the wedding album.

Using fabric and stickers are good ideas. My only concern with the stickers is that due to the material of the album, they may not stick well. that is why i was thinking paint to make a title and stuff. Anyone else know of paints working or not?

I bought a cloth covered album for the church Youth Scrapbook and then bought the A/F "bucket of foamies letters" at the craft store. I took the clear protective cover off the album, used A/F glue stick and it was enough to get the letters to stay in place and when the clear plastic cover was replaced, it held the letters in place just fine. The Youth use the album rather frequently (looking over their pics) and no letters have fallen off as of yet and it 's been a year.

Rub-Ons will work perfectly. You can put them on just about any surface.

I haven't tried it yet, but I've been told that Rub-ons work perfectly on album covers, whether they're just a regular cover or the plastic overlay.

I put a metal letter I (for Isabel) on one of mine and then made the dot for the I out of ribbon (like a flower with a button in the middle). It is in my gallery, if you want to check it out.

I used iron on letters on a cloth covered scrapbook. I just ironed them on. Check out my gallery. I have also just used sticker letters to write things on them and added extra stickers. The possibilities are endless.

You could use ribbons, metal frames, label holders, rub ons and stickers. Just some ideas that I've seen in magazines and stuff.
