Repositionable Adhesive

I need to buy more adhesive because I ran out of all but glue while trying to finish the Mini Book for NSD. I went to the stores and couldn't find refills for my refillable tape runner, if you can believe that. I didn't buy anything because I didn't want to invest in another product line until I had exhausted my search, so I began thinking about alternatives. One of the things that crossed my mind was how good is Repositionable adhesive? Do many of you use it? Does it work well? Are there brands that are better than others? Also, does it become permanent after a while? I seem to remember a conversation about that from a couple of years ago but my memory could be faulty. Thanks for your insights.

I used it once and after a while it lost its tackiness and everything started falling off my pages. Other than using it for planning pages until I'm happy enough to stick it down properly, I have no use for it.

I used repositionable when I was first scrapbooking but not any more. Now I'm ATG all the way.

I have always used reposition able tape, because I end up ruining my pages or paper as I always am trying to adjust things. My scrapbook pages from 10 years ago are still together. I don't see anything falling off. I have seen some people say they do, but mine seems fine. I sure do wish they would make tape for the ATG in repositionable!!

Am I dreaming or did I see ATG repositional tape somewhere? Just seems I've seen it. Maybe I"m really loosing it! But, I'm going to go look just to be sure.

The main problem I had with repositionable tapes is that I take my layouts out in the sun to photograph them. I take 4 or 5 at a time but no matter how fast I snap a few pictures of each the sun melts the repositionable and some of the stuff literally falls out just days after I made it.

Florida sun is diabolical but still, when I got back in I had to press everything back down again and some had to be reglued from just such a short exposure to the sun.

I think that is the enemy of the repositionable tapes - heat.

I just did a dogpile search for Scotch repositionable ATG tape and got a lot of hits. Its out there.

I love repositionable adhesive. I never treat it as permanent. I use it to hold items in place if I'm going to alter with paint, mist, etc. I use it to mount unmounted rubber stamps to an acrylic block, so I don't have to bother with EZ Mount foam. Good repositionable adhesive just rubs off when you're done with it.

I used a repositionable glue stick a lot when I first started scrapping. It holds my photos and papers just fine. They were very simple. I do like the fact that I can take old pages and photos apart easily and reuse/redo them since I used a weak glue

I do not know if you can buy this in the US, but I use Scapa tape. It is repositionable for a few hours, after that it will stick permanently.

I use repositionable ONLY for very temporary things. Like to tack down a mask so I can paint over it or something. And sometimes it doesn't even last as long as I need it to for that. Probably the brand I'm using, but still. I wouldn't trust any repositionable to be permanent.

I have used repositional dotto adhesive since I started archival scrapbooking in 2003. I love it because I can experiment and/or change my mind. I've never had any trouble with it, and it does become more permanent after a time.

Thanks for all the information ladies. I will do that search HenriJean. It seems as though Scotch brand adhesive is widely available in my area but other brands seem to be limited by store. I may just have to switch to Scotch brand for the convenience. I will pick up some repositionable too, just to see how well it works. I often like to put things down on a page only to find that the spacing is off and then I have to work around my mistake. I'm thinking the repositionable might come in handy for that.
