Hi,
I have some old family letters my grandmother saved over the years. Mostly from her parents, brothers and sisters. Some from my grandfather younger brother. When he was in the army during WW II. We found them in a old ciagar box when we were cleaning out her apartment. Since we had to put her in a nursing home. My dad bought them home to look through. He gave them to me because he knew I would take care of them. I stored them in my bottom file cabinet. Because I heard it best to keep old letters in a safe cool dark place. I assume they are ok in there for now. I also have some letters of my grandmother's mother. That my dad's cousin said I could have to keep. I also have it stored in the same place with my grandmother letters. What I want to do with them is put them in page protectors. To keep away from finger tips or spills and dust and dirt. But wondering if that the best way to do that. I have xyron 8 1/2 x 11 page protectors. They are good quality ones at least to me. I was thinking of getting that Archival Mist where you spary to keep the quality of your paper from fading. But all the letters are in pretty good shape. The paper of some might be faded a little but you can still read the handwritting.
Most of the letters are from The mid to late 30s all the way through the 40s and into the 50s.
I thought of the idea when I saw a lady on youtube. Where she put all her postcards or letters in page protectors and use clear photo corners to put them into place. So if people wrote on the back you and see the writing on the back too. It amazing what you can learn on youtube sometimes. I just wanted your thoughts and opinons on the project I want to do. I guess I'm a sucker for family photos and letters, lol.
