Shutterfly photo book ?

I just received my forth shutterfly photobook. When I received the book I was disappointed. The book was filled with pics of the family dog that passed away in February. The end of her nose was cut off on three pics. I was once told that they go over the books before they are sent to print, but when I called to ask about the problem I was told that was wrong information. They do not review the book before it goes to print. What is your experience with shutterfly photobooks???

I love Shutterfly - I have 32 books on my shelf and am getting ready to order 10 more. (and mine average 100 pages each!) I number my books like volumes and they are chronological. Shutterfly does a fantastic job.

I order the custom path though - I do not use their templates except for the front cover. the rest are my own layouts that I either do digitally or I do with paper and trimmer and scan so I don't need their templates.

They do not proof or check anything. They are high volume and don't even glance at what is in the books. There is no way they could review it. I don't expect any editing or correcting from them, they print it as it is downloaded.

I've had things come back that I wish I'd caught before I sent it - but those fall under the heading of I should have caught it.

I've actually reprinted a few books because I made errors or cut off pictures where I shouldn't have but when I went through and checked the page, it wasn't their fault. I clearly didn't check it to them before I sent it.

Overall though, I'm very happy with the product. They have sent some with dented corners and one had two pages that they had gotten glue on and were glued together. They were very good about replacing them immediately.

I have given Shutterfly books as gifts. It was my experience that you are responsible for all edits and previewing. No one at Shutterfly will edit for you. I've only made one book and alot of man hours went into it because I wanted it to be perfect, well as perfect as it could be. Sorry you had a bad experience with it.

I have made books through Shutterfly too, but only in the custom mode. Although I too am pretty sure that nobody checks them personally, I have often in the past, anyway, got little warning markings on my photos saying that one may not print well. Most of the time it means that they are too close to a page edge and might get cut off. I've never (once I adjusted due to the warnings) had any photos that didn't' print as expected. I'm sorry that your photos did not look as you had expected. Sorry too about pet loss. That is tough on its own. The kitty shown in my avatar passed just about a month ago. I have yet to scrap her memorial, but I would want it to be just about perfect when I do so I can understand that this issue must be especially upsetting.
