Calendar Ideas

I have decided to make a calendar or maybe calendars for Christmas. I am a little unsure of what or how to do the photo pages. Has anyone else done this and could you give me some tips or some photos of what you did to get some ideas? Thanks!

Ive bought blank calendars to work with, and holy spit were they time consuming! I still do them for family for Xmas, but I use VistaPrint for my calendars. Its like digital scrapping, in that you upload the pics, and place them in the spots. You can add titles, test etc....they print well and look great.

Its always my MIL's favorite gift!

I've always used Shutterfly for calendars. They have come a long way with their designs!

Making one would be fun, but I'd probably have to start it in March. I have the attention span of a gnat.

I make mine from kraft paper and a bind-it-all. For 2012, I found cute little pre-dated months tags from Elle's Studio. Here is my calendar for 2011...

I used to digi scrap each month. It is very time consuming.

I made my first calendar last year. I got a kit from M's and made a simple 12 X 12 LO for each month. The kits are super easy to work with. They have seasonal embellies and stickers for all of the holidays and important events.

Only advice is to use lots of adhesive since the LOs will be hanging.

every year for the holidays, I buy my DD a blank DCWV calendar,,,,,there are tons of papers and embellies that go along with it, so it makes it easy,,,,

she usually puts in pics that are roughly the same month,,,,,,,pumpkin picking or a jack-o-lantern for October,,,,,,,Hanukkah menorah for december,,,,,,,etc.

Call me crazy, but I want to try to make it on my own. I bought a blank from Archivers and just trying to figure out how to make the top. Bought rubber stamps with small numbers for the dates and small day of the week stamps. Trying to decide if I should specialize each one to the person for whom it is intended (each daughter) or make them all the same. Hmmmm. Decisions, decisions.

Just to make it easy on myself, I would stamp the month grid and then just write in the dates. I do three calendars every year and I just couldn't stamp all the dates! lol I also try to use the same pics for every calendar but will occasionally switch up a photo to personalize for the grandparents.

I've made my own for the last 3 years, and 3 sets of them. I buy 12x12 calendar blanks through CTMH. First 2 years I did traditional scrapbooked pages and stamped the numbers on. Last year, I did digi pages through Studio J, then hand wrote the numbers in. I stamp the month titles and the holidays. I had a request to add family bday's on there, which I might do this year.

Basic Grey makes calendar kits every year. They have everything you need plus instructions for each month.

I made a Perpetual Calendar last year. And I love it. It never expires. I made mine with actual Theme months but you can just use decorated pages for pictures.

I make calendars for my mom and grandmother every year. In fact, I was pretty much ordered by my gram that I had better continue that tradition, even if she gets nothing else for Christmas. She's a bit outspoken. LOL.

Anyway, I buy calendars that are pre-printed with the months and dates, but blank on top. Then I just embellish them myself. I personalize them to each recipient. So, my mom's calendar is mainly focused around her grandchildren, with a LO or two of me and my brother. My gram is a social butterfly and wants pics of everyone, not just her grandkids and great-grandkids, so that is what she gets. It's got her children down to her great-grands, as well as her remaining sibling and his wife, and even a pic or two of her favorite nieces and nephews. She sends me pics all year long in anticipation that I'll put them in her calendar.

Some things to keep in mind:
don't use anything that's too heavy as far as embellishments go, or it will get too heavy to hang on the wall. It will also make the pages tear off from the binding.
use a strong adhesive, even for the paper.
I don't like to use glitter papers, because they seem to come off more easily as the year passes (even with heavy duty adhesive)
don't cover up the hole in the top that they'll use to put the nail through for hanging. Or, if you do, just go through at the end with a hole punch or cropadile and make it again.

I did a calendar as a present for my son last year. I used a blank. I stamped the months and dates and added another stamp on special dates, birthdays, etc. I started in January and took pictures around our house and yard every month specifically for the calendar. Since ds is in the Peace Corps in Nicaragua, I had high quality color copies made and attached them to the picture blank. He really liked the calendar, his neighbors enjoy it as well.
