Paper Cutter that uses a laser light?

Ok, my dad is probably just crazy, but he swears he saw on tv a paper cutter that has a laser light to help you, but also has interchangeable blades for wavy lines, etc. Anyone else heard of this? So far I just have the Provocraft small trimmer which works great, but I want a larger one that will also cut scalloped edges. Thanks!

I saw it too. I cannot remember who makes it. It has a light that lights up where the blade is going to cut on your paper/picture.

My gram saw this, too! She has been looking for it everywhere and can't find it. Two scrapping stores had no idea what she was talking about. Another said that they think it's a repeat of a Sandy Genovese show from years ago and that it's no longer available. I can't see that - this does not sound like something that would have been out years ago! If anyone finds it, let us know. I'd love to get one for my gram.

I've seen the infomercial a few times. I dont think its really worth it. I like my Purple Cow s trimmer. I would rather get a good OTT light

I saw it on a late night TV ad and it comes with shaper blades too. Look up the "as seen on TV" ads

I saw that cutter on TV. BUT... doesn't that light come from the bottom to show you where you are cutting? Wouldn't it have a hard time showing through cardstock?

And, I guess it would take batteries... I'd probably leave it on and then have to spend my craft money on more batteries!

I saw this too....in the middle of the night. When I awoke in the morning I was wondering.....did I really see that or was it a dream.

i was watching DIY yesterday for TOO MANY hours (LOL- gotta love vacation) and saw the commercial for it EVERY break- it does shine up from the bottom. Makes me also wonder about shining thru cardstock and pictures (it shows someone cutting a picture with it). What they cut on the commercial is vellum and what appears to be super thin 12x12 paper. I think I'll stick with my Fiskars with the deco blades.

My friend called me and mentioned seeing this informercial... I haven't seen it yet but I believe that QVC has been selling a version of the cutter with the laser...

Yep, DH mentioned it to me right before Christmas, guess he was looking for a last minute gift idea. My concern was the light shining through the bottom as well. Too bad, as it was very thoughtful of him and I could use a cutter that cuts square. Mine cuts perfectly straight but its almost 1/8" off over a 12" line as far as cutting square.

Usually stuff on an infomercial is either over priced or not a good product. Otherwise it would be in the stores.

I saw that same commercial! I didn't really think it would help much-I don't need lighting from the bottom as much as I do the top!

The light is easily visible from the top, even when cutting cardstock. It is a fantastic cutter; have had mine for several months and love it. You can order it directly from their website.

I've had this this trimmer for a few months now....my step mom bought it for me from the infomercial.

The light works pretty well even on cardstock and I love that you can interchange the blades to make the scallops, ZIG zag, etc. I hate using scissors for a long cut as I can't always keep it straight. It even has a scoring blade for cards.

The light part also has an electric plug option, so you don't have to use batteries if you are near a plug.

I have one too. My infomercial obsessed little brother got it for me for Christmas. It does cut very straight, and is really actually very sturdy and stout. My only complaint is that it doesn't shine through black cs, but then I guess that's not really expected.

I saw the infomercial and the gal trying to cut out pictures has some kind problem cause she doesn't even try to cut straight. It's kinda comical. Glad it works though.

Your issue sounds like one I used to have. I own the cutters made by Fiskars . After a while the ruler goes out of whack and you start to get cuts that have a slight angle on them...just enough to annoy you. I called Fiskars and they sent me a new ruler.....for free

I saw the reviews on amazon and it sounded like many of the customers were really not happy... you might want to check those reviews too. I don't have one.... just saying...

Yes, mommytonicholas....it does cut straight when using the straigh blade. I have an old Fiskars cutter that sometimes goes wonky and crooked (like I've had a few drinks while scrapping ), but this cutter holds the blade much tighter for a straight line.

yep it's a craftlight cutter, i got one from my mil for christmas but haven't had time to play with it yet. it's kind of like the 12" trimer i have from creative memories, but it lights up and has a bunch of cool blades. My dd got one too, and she really likes it! It takes 3 AA batteries for the light.

Good to talk about this product. I saw it and wondered.

I bought myself one before I started making my Christmas cards for this year. I love it!!! I have some vision problems and it has been a life-saver for me. Much easier to see than the dark grey Fiskars cutter. Also I like the fact that the blades stay locked on the track. I'm always losing my blade off the fiskers cutter when I cut, plus it does not cut straight.
I did buy the extra blades for it and also bought my dd one for christmas.

I only wanted to add...see if you can demo it before you buy it. My DH has a few tools that have these type of lights that mark the cut. He always removes them because the light it never true on the cut. He says 1 will light on this side of your cut, and the other tool will light on the other side of the cut. He has taught me that when It need to place my cut draw a light line then light my blade to my pencil line.

I just wanted to add this tip because we have all been thinking about the tools we have bought that just disappoint us.

I've seen this infomercial on late night TV, too! I work nights at the hospital and we have a TV in our nurses lounge and I caught a glimpse of this product and have had the same questions that I've seen posted here! I'm so glad that ya'll have posted the comments and ?s.

But I have a ?, too. I know that it has interchangeable (?sp) blades...but can you purchase extra blades for the straight cut, too? I find with my Fiskars cutter that I have to replace my blade quite frequently because of all the cardstock I cut with it...so I'd want to make certain that I had plenty of extra blades for a straight cut before making a decision to invest in this product.

I also agree with one lady that commented that she'd just like to invest in a good Ott Lite...me, too...but I'm always interested in new scrappin' products!!!

You can get a laser lite cutter from Staples. Do you have Staples business supply in the States? It used to be known as Business Depot.

I have only been happy with exactly ONE as seen on tv product. The rest is all absolute junk or it doesn't work any differently than what is available in stores already. I would be afraid that this won't be available for long, like a lot of tv products, and then replacements won't be found. Then you are stuck with a trimmer that you can't use. I would stay far away from the as seen on tv products and instead find one that will be much better quality at Staples. Should be much easier to find replacement blades and will probably be around for a lot longer.

Hey, dad is right I say it on an infomercial the other day and it was really neat!

I ready somewhere that this trimmer is cheaply made and the manufacturer does not stand by the product. Not worth the price!

Yes, it was on QVC and was sold out in minutes.
You can get on the wait list like I did. It has more cuttters than the infomercial. If I get it in the 45 day wait - I will post and let you know what it is like. I want it as an additional to my cutters (500 Dahle and Making Memories cutter).

The Dahle 500 is a good little durable cutter, especially for a rotary-style trimmer.
