Does anyone here make scrapbooks for others and charge a fee?

A friend and I love to scrapbook and we always get asked to make books for others... it got us thinking... do any of you make scrapbooks for others for a fee? If so, we're interested in how you do it. I've seen some sites on the internet, but the price ranges so dramatically. Feel free to private message me if you don't want to post on the forum. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't but my LSS does this. They charge $120 for 10 lightly embellished pages or $150 for more embellished pages.

I have. I did an entire book for someone and charged $120 for an 8x8 album.

I don't have it in my gallery but I have a video I made showing it off.

The $120 was for supplies AND labor. I spent about 70 on supplies.

I have, a couple times, they payed me 100-200 for supplies, and then gave me 70 extra as a profit. (:

Someone at church asked me just the other day. I created our Pastor's scrapbook, but I gifted it. Not sure what to charge for my work.

I think I lucked out! I did a 45-page (that's 45 page protectors - 90 actual pages) surprise 40th anniversary book for my brother who wanted to give his wife. Supplies I kept track of came to about $350, and I worked around 43 hours on it. I only invoiced him for the supplies (the ones I actually kept track of - others I just grabbed from my own stash), and didn't have the heart to charge him for the labor. He loved the book and sent me a check for $760! I was floored. It's not that they couldn't afford it - he took her to Denmark for their 35th anniversary! But he said he had checked around and he wanted to be fair and appreciated all the hours of work that went into it. (There was a lot of Cricut work and embellies.) But just for the record, I will NEVER, EVER, EVER do a book for someone else again!

I've done several books for people, and I find people do not realize how much it cost to complete and artistic scrapbook. There is always a misconception. I completed an Auction book for ds' school I think some of the pictures are in my gallery and the book costed $371.00 to complete with a discount on labor and they Auctioned it off for $40.00. I completed this year's book already and some of the pages are in the gallery and even with me pulling way back on the embellishments and supplies it still over $200.00 ( I haven't added all the pages yet), so this will be my last donation of this sort. I might do projects instead since they will be cheaper. If you can get someone to pay you what your talent and time is worth I say go for it.

I will never ever do a book for someone else again either. It's just not as fun and I worry about how much they'll appreciate it. You got a lot more $ for your work than I did for mine but for that many pages I'll say you definitely deserved it!!

I used to be a cake decorator and did dozens of wedding cakes as well as others. We moved to a town without a bakery, and once I started teaching in adult ed, my orders started flooding in. Before long, it was no longer a fun hobby, it was a responsibility. A few years later we moved from that town and I sold all my cake decorating supplies. I don't want scrapbooking to take that same road. I want it to continue to be a fun and creative outlet for me - not a job.

This is one of the services i offer. I do a $350.00 for the basic package. It goes up from there if there is a lot of quill work done in the book triple the prices.
I don't use a lot of pre-made stuff beside the basic. I make 75%of the stuff i use on my pages by hand. So i do charge a little more.

I done a 8x8 album for my partners grandmother for her 90th which I gave as a gift my mother in-law has asked me if I would make up albums for when myself, partner and his side of the family go to Vietnam in 3 weeks, I'll be doing 4 albums in total but nothing more has been said on payment arranges. I've also been thinking about selling pages, cards etc at the local market but not sure how much I should charge for a page?? I think it's great that so many of you ladies make these albums and pages and can get paid for your time...because lets face it scrapbooking is time consuming but a fun one :-)

I just checked out your video. very nice presentation & fabulous album. I'm sure they were thrilled to bits with it but I can understand you not wanting to do one again...I would feel a lot of pressure too!
P.S. it was so nice to hear your voice (and you have a really sweet lovely singing voice too!)

Thanks so much Vija! I only did it because it was a favor for my Aunt. I missed being able to do my own pages. It turned out to take a lot longer than I thought it would too.

That's how I felt when I was working for a scrapbook store and had to make display samples that I didn't get back. It becomes a job and it's not so fun anymore! DT work is fun because you can play and keep then keep it.

I charge $10.00 per page and they provide the album and page protectors for a 12 x 12 album. I lightly embellish and use a lot of pictures on each page. If they want 1 picture pages throughout the book it is more. I make most of my own embellishments and use sketches alot to cut down on time. I'm also careful who I scrap for.....if I know someone is "picky" I generally just tell them I don't have the time. This is just a vacation fund for me so I can pick and choose who/what I do.

Also, I ask them to sort/group the pictures before bringing to me so everything is together how they want it. Saves me time and headache.
