300 page scrapbook

I wanted to put together a scrapbook cookbook, but I have 300 pages (approxiamtely), and was wondering, with the page protectors , will this make my scrapbook like, 15 inches thick? I am not planning on using too many embellishments that are thick and chunky. Most of it is just flat paper, some pressed herbs, eyelets, and thos butterfly pin thinks you stick through the paper and open up on the other side. Any suggestions would be great! Thank you!

I think that it will probably make it pretty thick. But you can get extenders so that the scrapbook can be extended and it won't matter how thick it is.

you're going to end upt with more tahn one book.

Will this make it look bad? I really want to keep it in one book. Will it be EXTREMELY thick? Can someone give me an approximation of how thick it will be? Thanks.

Agreed. There's no way around it. Even with post extenders, this is not a size that you want to get to. It will be VERY unstable and very easy to break. I found that out with having a just a post-bound photo album that wound up extending about 3".

Multiple books...separate based on main ingredient (chicken, seafood, meat, vegetarian) or food type (salads, desserts, etc.)

You may do best with this in a good (and large) 3-ring binder. Don't know if you can find one that will fit 300 pages though.

Yeah, I can't tell you how thick it will be, but my guess is that 100 pages is close to the limit for a single book - it is just too bulky to hold and turn the pages. A 300 page novel is nearly 1" thick sometimes (depending on the paper weight) and with paper, embellishments (brads & eyelets do make pages bulky), and the page protectors it will end up pretty thick indeed!

Another option though is recipe cards in a special box. You can decorate the cards how you like and even laminate them (if they are flat without brads or eyelets) and I'm sure you could fit 300 in a box. AND they would be much easier to use - which I'm sure is the main reason to do them in the first place.

I made a recipe scrapbook (a 8 1/2 by 11 3 ring binder type of album I got at Kohl's) last year. I think I ended up with so many recipes that I couldn't fit them all in the book! (I think I ended up using 57 recipes total, plus section pages, title page, dedication page, and closing page.) You might want to check somewhere like Michael's or Joann's to see if they have any large binder style albums. Could you put more than one recipe on a page? Good luck!

We made two 100 page scrapbooks for my pastor's wife a couple years ago. We had to buy two super thick 3 ring, leather, binder type albums, which were about $80 each. 100 pages were perfect because these albums were specifically made to hold that many pages. I can't even imagine 300 pages in one album.

i'd ask how good are your digi skills? i dont think 300 pages would work in abook unless you did a custom one that are similar to those publishers but out....think snapfish and printing digitally.

I definitely thinking you need to go with the 3 ring binder type album. But even with that I'm thinking 100 or so pages would probably be the limit. You could separate them into different categories Like Main Dishes, Appetizers, and desserts.

I scrapped several years’ worth of cyclocross cycling events and now have a spiral book that is over 4 1/2" thick. It is totally unmanageable.
BUT
I had all of the pages professionally scanned and got copies printed on very thin paper. The book I made using the copies is less than 2” thick. And the quality of the image is equal to if not better then the originals. I now display the book of copies (and hide away the book of originals).

You might want to consider copies for your final recipe book too. I don’t know about you but I spill on my recipes and leave finger prints all the time. I don’t think I have ever set a recipe on fire but your never know.

I think this is the best way to go. This way you can remove just page you need so you don't have to deal with entire book when you're wanting to use one of the recipes.

I dont want a 3 hole binder. I have this scrapbook that used to be my grandmas and i want to use it.
